Sshd?

Have been thinking for a while now, of replacing my 2 now quite old, 1TB Samsung spin point drives, for a single 2TB SSHD. I currently have the 2 drives split into 4, mostly for storage of media, as well as storing my ubiplay, origin and steam libraries. Any thoughts on if they're any good and any particular make to choose/ avoid.

Cheers.

If it is more expensive then it's not really worth it. They don't make much of a difference to speed unless you use the same programs over and over again. But i doubt you would be using the same stuff constantly when you have 2TB of stuff to use.

Yeah, most only have like 8GB SSD cache anyway which is barely the OS :s

What about buying a 60/120GB SSD and 2Tb HDD and use the SSD for cache? This used to be a big thing around the z68 days but I think most have forgotten about it.

I already have a 120GB SSD as a boot drive but need to replace my current HDDs. The average price of a 2TB SSHD is round about the £80 mark. I was just wondering if it's worth changing to a SSHD over traditional HDDs?

If you already have a ssd for your system drive and you just need storage, absolutly not worth over a normal hdd.

Cool. I reckon my current HDDs have seen better days, so I just wanted to know what the best way to replace them was. :)

It doesn't store the OS in the cache, otherwise it would just be installed on flash memory:p What goes in the cache is usually .exe files and files that are called on often by the program software. that are more often than not being used compared to other things. The algorithm that decides what stays in the cache is sorted by most often used, helps give a big speed boost. That's why they are faster and also why they don't need to store all of a program in the cache. Single lines don't take much space:)
