ssd help

Hi i got a phone call for my mate last night and he wants my help in finding him a ssd. He would like 128GB ssd and his budget is £50.
I did see this

but I have not used this ssd and reading some people comment I am not sure if I should recommend this as some say its not that fast other say its not recognised my their computer and have to restart a few times before they it get recognised so I need help in picking the wright ssd for him.

Its really not worth buying a 128GB ssd in my opinion. For example, the Crucial M500 120 GB is 50 dollars. The 240 GB option is 80 dollars; only $20 more for double the capacity! You should explain this to him. Im sure he can drop an extra 20.

Hi yes he only wants a boot drive not a drive for anything else thats why its 128gb.
The m500 I have heard good things on NCIXcom but was not aware its only 52 wow a really nice price to i would say. I think ill recommend him m500 would you all agree or disagree?

Agree. Crucial are one of the most reliable brands and their drives are pretty quick. All while being some of the cheapest SSDs around.

If he can't afford the Samsung Evo he should get the Kingston SSDNow. Its bulletproof (They are used at my work and none have failed from use thus far) and cheap. The crucial has crap performance (130MB/s write, really?).

Its not advisable to get a v300 anymore thay changed the flash thay use for substandard flash chips.
The older v300's where great (i have 3 of them)

Oh know that's something I did not know mm me be the Samsung Evo mm I wonder if their any good ssd that's fast for 50 to 60 pounds?

I can vouch for the HyperX 3K and the M500. Both are solid. I only notice the slow speed in the HyperX when transfering files from it to a different/faster SSD. If your friend transfers from SSD to HDD then it will easily max out the HDD read rate before the it hits its write speed cap.

M500 on the other hand is very fast but i own the 240gb version and not the 120gb.

Hi the 250 ones has different speeds I think the closes thing to super fast speeds is HyperX 3K as it speeds are really good ill let him tomorrow thank for all your help, Every one who commented I thank you all.
