I'm quite unsure about how to format SSD, because I heard that SSDs have special way to format it. can someone tell me what that function is?
I also curious about how will TRIM and GC effect formatting. I saw an article that was written in a few years ago like 2010-2011. before TRIM comes out. I found on the article that the reason SSDs need special formatting is because they never delete anything that OS tells them to, data is only been deleted in controller level but they remain intact until over written.
As far as I understand, TRIM and GC are there to prevent this problem, which will make SSD remain at high performance for longer, so I was wondering if SSDs today still require special formatting procedure or can they just be formatted like hard drive to regain performance similar to new one?
