my gf's computer has been shutting off randomly lately so i came up to her place to check it out and it didnt shut off on me but one of the fans started to go nuts quite a few times, and this all started after i put in a new sound card she said...anyways when i heard the fan go nuts i shut the comp off and went into bios to look at cpu temps...which said 104c and i determind that was most likely the problem and now i dont know y its doin it so i dl'ed speedfan and cant figure out which temp1,2,3 are monitoring and im guessing core is cpu temp?? any help and what those are??

its usually different for each computer, try and download everest, the free version and it says, HD, mobo, gfx card and cpu temperature, its also alot more clear

Core is CPU but can be measured a number of ways. I would advise removing and then refitting CPU fan and ensuring the cabling is correct.

The tdeal solution would be to fit a new CPU fan, I had this happen to me a couple of weeks back with a mates PC, £8 later and a new fan ( nothing special) and it was ok.

Likewise if it was shutting down it was probably the safety feature within BIOS preventing you from melting the CPU.

Hope it helps.
