Speakers Upgrade

Hi all looking for advice on a Speaker System Upgrade...
The current ones I have are an old Creative 5.1 which had for a very long time and a couple of speakers have stoped working.

So I'm looking at suggestions on what to get, I'm not looking for anything pricey, just want ones that produce a great sound and bass for the pice?

Oooerrr saw this old thread of mine......

I'm looking at the Logitech Z623 Speaker Set as I don't really need 5.1 as it takes up too much room.

I'm also may look into upgrading the Sound Card at Present I have Asus Xonor D1 any better ones about?

What I'm wondering is how big is the Subwoofer? As I'm also looking for a new desk something like this: http://www.argos.co.uk/product/6179674

Was looking to place the Subwoofer on the 1st Shelf bellow the Keyboard.

Any help would be useful

Speaking from experience, a sub needs to go on the floor and be freely isolated, locating it in the shelving area will probably deliver irritatingly annoying vibrations. A sub can be hidden anywhere like behind a sofa or in a corner behind a TV, as long as the port and diaphragm is free to move.]

Isolating a Sub from the floor or any area it's sat on could be as simple as sitting it on 4 blobs of blu tack..

If you want to isolate a sub you either use spikes or a solid object like a concrete/marble slab. Personally I would cover the bottom of the sub with this

You could still get vibrations of course, because a sub is used as a piston to move air, but you will lose any cabinet-desk resonance.
