Speakers not working

Hi Folks! I have a new system put together. I have 5.1 speakers (logitech) plugged into the on-board audio. This is no simple problem.

I have a Samsung monitor/tv. I hear audio from only the monitor. I have a P6T asus MB, I7 930 processor. Tried all kinds of things. I suspect a conflict with the monitor, what kind, I dont know. Now, I have two room mates with the same problem. Same Motherboard type and Monitor.

No solutions, yet. Tried deleting drivers and reinstalling them. Can hear sound using my iPod headphones connnected to the MB. I am losing hair as I speak on this... not a pretty sight.

I dont want to add an audio board. I am out of ideas. Can you help?

Have you got the monitor plugged in via hdmi?

HDMI carries audio too. You just need to go to the sound section in control panel and select the correct output source.

(you can only output from one source speakers OR monitor)

or try connecting the speakers but no monitor?
