I'm not sure how much difference the E06 would really make tbh.

Amping up a poor quality source, like a phone, wouldn't really be a great idea since you'd just end up with louder poor quality audio.

You'd be better going for the E7, and using the digital output from the S3, so you can improve the quality with the Fiio's DAC, and amp up the better audio source.

not sure the s3 has a cable for digital output of sound, thats why i was going for the E06 an not the E07, i know there is an iphone cable but i refuse to buy an iphone.any other ideas fella?

It connects via USB.
would it put the sound though it though? an where would i find a micro usb to mini usb cable?

*edit* never mind found a cable, am still not sure if it would push the sound though it though

I'm pretty sure it does work with the E7.

I had a quick google, and places seem to say it works (may be worth having a look yourself to confirm this).

there are mixed reviews, it works for some people an not for others as far as i can see anyway. hmmm not sure what to do

As much as you say ney to iPhone, iPods/iPhones do still have some of the best audio-output quality..

Have you considered a second device for better quality music?

Doesn't necessarily have to a phone, I think most of the iPods have the same/similar capabilities these days. I'm sure there are other options available as well.

i have considered another device, i just don't want something else i have to carry round, it sort of defeats the point of having a smart phone, although a jack of all an a master of non isn't great. this is why i wish something like phone blocks would be great, i could chuck most of the shite they put into my phone away, an just have the things i deem necessary. i may still go with the Fiio E6 as its cheap an highly recomended on a lot of review sites, if its rubbish i know i haven't blown a silly amount of money on something, an i can get something like the Fiio E7, soundmagic a10 or JDS cmoyBB

Surely buying an amp is already something else to carry around?
There are better audio-outputting phones. The HTC-One for example ?

My Note 3 arrives next week I'll let you know if that's any good as well

yeah i suppose but you can get discrete amps, i have been told the htc one sound is really bad "beats" integrated "amp". i want a note 3 but i really don't have the money for it at the mo, i am currently customizing a 2 stroke so its sucking all my money from my wallet haha ^_^

hehe i know the feeling.

do you think there will be much audio quality lost if i just use the Fiio E7 thought the line in? as i would imagine the battery life being a lot better on it (*edit* better than the 6 that is) , and if it is good i may have get a no portable version for my rig

Anyway the internets I've been reading suggest that galaxy S III has a decent sound source.
