Well.. it`s been half a good day.
Best bit is that everything works, to a point. ie. nothing faulty.
The small box that came around about the 9am mark, enclosed another smaller black box with Intel QX9650 written on it`s nice label.
The only downer to the day is that the ix38 doesn`t recognize it properly, and I`m having to use a beta bios to even get stuff registering. Atleast now it shows proper(ish) temps ~38 degrees @3.6ghz atm idle.
Problems being atm the multiplier can be adjusted in the bios, but irl it sticks @ x9. Latest release bios stuck it @ x6. Which had me in a tiz cos it was doing badly @ SuperPI, around 17s for 1m when I was sure it would do better. Major problem with the original bios tho was the temp was stuck @ 12 degrees! Calls it a X9650 too pfft.
So, I`ve had to leave it @ x9 to keep inline with what it`s gonna tell the pc anyway and came up with this:
(weird how Vista recognized the oc as I wanted it tho - but obviously it wasn`t performing at that level)
Anything over this and I bsod. I`m not 100% sure that it`s following thru with voltages either, so I`m leaving it @ this until a bios that states it recognizes the QX9650 comes out.
This sucker will do 10x as soon as the bios will acknowledge it, and the temps, if they can be believed, should allow @least 400x10.
