Hi evri1

I've got a 8800GTX sitting on a DFI LP DK 790FX-M2RS and I'm About To buy another 8800gtx(identical) But its just struck my mind.

ITS AN AMD CHIPSET!!!!!!!

I Think I know the answer to my question already but here goes.

Can i run sli on my mobo?

Thanks for any replies :)

Thanks 4 reply guys. I dont think i'm prepared to dissemble my w/c loop just to put another 8800 tbh.

Just wait until my brand new phenom II build later this year. Till then I shall Cope With 20fps on crysis :(

Lookin forward to the 4890 though.WHAT A GPU!!!

Thanks Again.

yeah your cant im afraid, sell the mobo buy a new, a pick up a 8800 for 45quid and bobsyouruncle:)

and another cpu? so isit worth it lol, just buy a 980a chipset board

Buy a motherboard with a nvidia chipset so that way you can go sli. But for core i7 the x58 chipset support both crossfire and sli

So would i get any major performance out of a phenom ii(oc'ed) rig with a 4890 compared to an 8800 sli phenom?

So Should I just go for 2 4890's instead of a whole new rig? (Thinking of cheaper options :) )

Thinking this because ive got the 790fx chipset which is still pretty good.

yeah id go with the 2 4890's which would dominate, and then wait for some cashflow and save for a PH2 955 or something

Cheers 4 that m8. Made me a bit happier knowing i won't be splashing so much cash out :)

Think wen i get the 955 it would make a major performance boost if i went to AM3,DDR3?

best thing too do is get the 4890's in and see what fps you get, then get the phenom II and put that in and see if you get a speed up which most likely you will, then if you get a nice bit of money in the future you can make the step too ddr3 and AM3 mobo at the minute theres hardly any difference in games with ddr2 vs ddr3
