Skyrim Screenshots

SkyRim is having Crossfire issues at the moment. Read about it on other forums.

I probably won't end up getting a second card i'd rather wait until for the next gen ones but if I do i'll wait until Skyrim is fixed for crossfire. Cheers for the info anyway.

Remember when games got released when they were Finished. rather than just releasing them and fixing them later lol

You can blame the consoles for that, testing PC titles are much harder since there is so many different combinations of hardware, so they will usually release it, then fix it for people that have issues

maxxed pickpocket, sneak and marksmanship

WHAT THE FUUU**? I'm only lvl 25 how much have you played? 39 hours here...

Also are you playing in 1st person or 3rd?
smile.gif
Are you an explorer or just go to quests in a straight line, do you try to complete as many side quests as possible etc?

-

Also remember games are MUCH more complicated now than they were a 10-20 years ago so ofcourse there are going to be alot more bugs

I always play 1st person. It's stupid to play 3rd person. Especially in oblivion when it was clearly made for 1st (floating players, foot movement when strafing, etc).

Just my opinion. Also, the 1st person kill animations are awesome!

i only managed to get stuck into it on sunday, 5hrs went in a flash, lvl 5 or 6 i think. working on speech lockpick and the likes.

im just picking up quests as they come along, if i see 2 NPCs in discussing i see what going on and things go from there. Got the guide aswell which you could beat a whale to death with. im playing 1st person soley because the 3rd perosn of fallout 3 looked like my guy was walking on roller skates lol.

fps never go below 60 on ultra setting with a gtx 570

HERE IS A TIP FOR ALL OF YOU:

if you have a joypad, it can be really useful for maxxing sneak

whilst doing any quest that involves:

  • an idle/sleeping AI that is behind a closed door
  • only you and that AI are in the building
  • the door opens towards you (not towards the AI) OR a gate/door can only be activated by you
  • gametime stops when you are in caves, and if AIs are asleep, they will stay asleep unless awakened by you (i used this method)

go into sneak mode and sneak towards the door/gate/wall (slowly)..... with the joypad 'jam' something under the thumbstick... so that your player is in auto pilot (or use an elastic band)

minimise the game - and go back to it in about 2hours

smile.gif
sneak maxxed 100 (shadow warrior), 10 levels earnt - use the 10 level-ups on sneak

my one major goal is to create enchanted items that make me 100% invisible.

maxxed sneak means that i cannot be detected walking, jumping or sprinting (even is heavy metal armour) near any AI.
wink.gif
also, hired thugs (companions) also gain whatever skills you have learned.

it is a trick i learned in Oblivion

Kind of takes the fun out of earning max sneak but I see why you would do it.

Would you be able to post a video of how you did it, the location, details etc?

i cannot post a video as i am on the PS3

but there is a quest:

THE MIND OF MADNESS

near the Blue Palace (outside it) you will find an old manservant who has lost his master 'Pelagius' (sidequest).

agree to help him.

once in the main quest, Pelagius is sleeping on a bed, and will not awake until you have solved a puzzle.

before solving, walk up to the bed, and slowly sneak against it.

as you are so close to an AI without them detecting you, your sneak skill rockets up

Hi,

The old "sneak near the sleeping" Oblivion trick doesn't appear to work on the PC version - at least not with neutral characters anyway. Still, my sneak is improving nicely. Sneak also improves I notice just being hidden while others (enemies) are moving past you. I've been crouched (sneak) with my bow out simply watching an enemy and had the "sneak has increased" message - I wasn't even moving.

My char is fairly weak, I sorta keep changing my mind on stuff. I started out pure mage (cos I've never tried that before) and the level 1 spells (stream of fire) was cool. However the level 2 fire spell felt a bit more clumsy so I never used it. Now I'm a sneaky bowman in light Elven armour what I made myself.

On this playthrough I'm sorta playing with all sorts of stuff. Resurrecting a dead bandit dog was funny when it launched its self at the "boss" of that particular dungeon...lasted 10 seconds but distracted him. Funny stuff.

My first Dragon kill was using the level 1 Spark spell, took a while. Next few were pure Archery, now I shout to stun them & use archery while my companion gets in close.

Fun stuff but eager for the next patch to fix a couple of issues. Sometimes (on PC this is) mid-distance textures don't load properly. There are certain areas where this is very apparent, whereas elsewhere things look great.

Oh yeah, bows feel pretty strong vs. basic enemies, but hardly dent any boss / elite type character. I really wish they'd change one thing here... I head-shot a bad guy - arrow right through the eye and out the back of the head...lovely, he takes like 5% damage and runs after me! IF the arrow doesn't do a kill-shot I think it shouldn't penetrate...sometimes arrows do seem to bounch off though, so something is different.

Still, I've not had all the issue many report. I had one single CTD last night after many many hours of gameplay, but other than that I've had no show stoppers.

Cyanide89: Will try out your .ini - good to see you max AA and AF. Oh, someone said that Driver level AA (i.e. in the NV control panel) is better than in-game AA. I disagree, in game AA is MUCH better at reducing jaggies. Also, higher levels of driver AA do cause...oddness in the game. Oh, I currently run maxxed settings with vSync still enabled as standard and regularly see 60fps and the game always feels perfectly smooth. Issues aside, this isn't a massively demanding engine relatively speaking, means there's room for tweaking to get even better visuals - once the little glitches are resolved, either via game or driver updates.

Cheers,

Scoob.

...edit: So do you just sneak around the bed?

go behind the head-board, and angle yourself slightly towards one of the bedposts.... then sneak in that little corner so you won't slide off the bed. do not fast-sneak. slow-sneak is the trick.

tilt your thumbstick slightly foward, and then find something to hold your joypad in that position, for a few hours.

if you dont have a joypad - find something to press on the forward key... levelling-up will take slightly longer this way
sad.gif

staying crouched and undetected will improve your sneak... BUT, moving and staying unnoticed will improve it faster

What if I create a macro for forward pressed repeatedly. So I'd be moving forward in short bursts opposed to full out strides.

Yea i tried it last night (PC has autowalk /muahahaha) i woke up to full sneak
tongue.gif
And scoob it worked for me

Did you guys know you can move corpses and other junk? Just hold E on the PC.

EDIT: My friend just told me an easy way to level up smithing, just buy/steal all the iron you can get and keep crafting iron daggers. Haven't tested it yet, but will let you know if it works
