Skyrim Framerate Drops

For those of you who are familiar with my PC and my previous ini file to up the visuals in Skyrim, you may be as shocked as I am when I tell you what I am about to tell you.

For some reason, I have either made some system changes or my system has failed, causing Skyrim to be nearly unplayable when in outdoor areas. I even restored my original ini, changed the settings to LOW, and reloaded the game. Same thing. My usual 110+ fps has now become an embarrassing 2 fps!

The only changes to the system are as follows:

-Installed a new HDD.

-Re-enabled hyperthreading (disabled for BF3).

-Installed QT and Office 2010.

PLEASE help me!

save the game... quit the game... restart it

there seems to be an issue on all platforms with bloated XML file data and log files

i hope this helps

I've done that many times. I would do it to edit my ini again... still lags.

I'm going to try without hyper threading.

Seems like games these days aren't optimized for it.

Sure you haven't got the view distance astronomical by accident or something?

Also where do I find this 'ini' you speak of, it sounds ripe for butchering, can't get half of .cfgs and XML setup files to actually have any effect even when set to read only (games in general; I don't have Skyrim)

I've been experimenting with the ini from the beginning, all changes have been effective... now it looks different but plays different as well.
