skyrim---advise me pls....

I have a bit of a confession to make......

I've never played an Elder Scrolls game....not once....

But Skyrim intrigues the shit out of me.......

question....

will i be able to play skyrim without knowing the backstory have never played previous titles???

will the story stand on its own???

have the other elderscrolls been playable on their own???

I've not played the Elder Scrolls either, but I know they're action RPGs so the story is mainly down to the player with side quests (Im guessing...) just look up a few reviews if you want a better idea of the game, gametrailers.co.uk do nice visual reviews

The main story of Skyrim is different to the other games, it's set in the same world but it's a different story. Some names and places from previous games are mentioned in Skyrim but it doesn't really matter if you know them or not.

so this isnt just a sequel...i hate getting stuck in a game because they expect that you played the last one....or missing out on the suddle humor or shout-outs that also require past knowledge

There is suddle humor and references to places and names of the other games but nothing that you need to know in order to play Skyrim. If you haven't played the other games then you won't notice them and they will just seem a part of Skyrim. There is nothing that you need to know from past games, each Elder Scrolls is a completely new adventure.

Deffo play this game! This is so AWESOME! And no, no backstory needed jsut like SieB said there will be a few references but nothing major that will keep you from understanding the story of Skyrim

Same here. I said I was going to play Oblivion, but didn't have the time. Will give Skyrim a go though

altho i think im gonna wait for a patch to really get into it....im getting some massive sound issues and no eyefinity 2dsurround support yet

If you are getting sound probs try right clicking on the volume icon on the taskbar, choose playback devices, right click on the one with the green tick on it and choose properties, choose the advanced tab and change the default format to 24bit 96000hz. The eyfinity thing is an AMD driver thing so you will have to wait for the next round of drivers.

its nvidia too......i tried my older 460's and to 3x for that either!!!
