I just happened to meet Sherooo today

It was nice to meet you dude, I'll be putting those stickers on my rig and I'll post some piccies later today...

First of all Congratulations its an awsome rig very well done =)

Second, just a quick question about the case, will it support the EVGA SR2?? Jus looks like a Eatx layout its massive!

EVGA SR-2 has a XL-ATX form factor, which is larger than the E-ATX form factor

OK so I bought the Asus Deluxe motherboard and have been very happy with it. I'm a kind of fit and forget sort of person, just want to get it right first time and then leave it. Take your time and do it once...

Then I heard that these, like all SB m/b's had a generic fault in the chipset. So I knew the day was coming when I would have to bite the bullet and re-build the system with a new B3 m/b. That day had come and here it is...

I bought an advance replacement, to make this process as painless as possible, so I wouldn't have to remove cables etc.

Also thought that I would add some more ram while I was at it. When I bought the original ridgeback it was £100, now 3 months later its only £60. Oh well never mind.

So I hope that I wont have to reinstall my os from scratch, as that would make me cry. I will have to re-build the raid 0 array, but have an image of my system on my home server, so I hope this will be relatively painless....

I may be gone some time.....

So this is pretty much the last update.

I swapped in the m/b without any real problems, didn't even have to re-build the raid array, it all just came back as if by magic - which was a huge relief. I did end up buying a desk extension to make it up to 220cm so that I could have the case on the desk. I'm still running with 4GB of memory, as I couldn't get it to boot with 8GB, but I'll sort that out as some point. So here's the money shot...

I think the next upgrade will be some new speakers. I find that wire across the desk a bit annoying...

All in all I'm happy with how the build went. I liked the Phantom as a case to build with, but don't think that its the best for airflow and noise. My GPU is running a little hot, and so the fan is running faster than it needs to.

I have one eye on re-building the system in a Fractal R3....

Yes, that is a nice wallpaper you have there Sheroo

+1 for getting an R3 it would look much better than the Phantom on your desk plus it has better cooling.

I've just had a look at Tom's review of the CM Storm Enforcer Case looks nice for £65. I'm a sucker for a big side window, the R3 looks a little bit too much like my old Antec P180...

The CM Storm Enforcer is a pretty good alternative, good case as well and cheap. Should look nice on your desk anyway.
