Ivy is fine - in fact in most situations it is slightly better than Sandy. Temperatures around 4.5GHz or under will be better on Ivy because of the lower volts and you don't need water cooling or even a particularly powerful air cooler either. Anything more than that and you really need water cooling to make the best of either chip.
Using Auto volts is just fine as long you know what it does. I use it for one of my 3570K profiles. It basically gives 1.1-1.2v (depending on LLC setting) to the CPU regardless of the clockspeed. You just have to be aware than any clock that doesn't need that many volts is being overvolted and that you won't get any higher than about 4.4.

Pretty funny vid like , about as funny as all the grief I got on here for stating facts that you only need a good cooler with one fan to run 4.4 with cpu set at auto .
Temps will be lower manual ? , nice one Tom but it don't matter as temps are way lower than the tollerance for a chip anyway
And 4.4 performance runs anything as fast and cooler than fannying around trying to get 5 gig for no reason 24/7 use
Big up the set to auto , now running noctua cpu fan at zero rpm pwm at 25c idle

Ok i just don't get it , I am an enthusiast with pc s but 4.4 on air at 61c full load is all you need temps? and anymore overclock is a waste of time

I have to give congratz to Seumasbeathan and Josh Weston to keep answering to those troll answers from Col55 this long. Since that he kept acting like a douchebag all the time.
I like his temp print, the fact that he took it when prime just started, it a good ideia XD. Prime didnt even had the scroll bars.
Anyway, I wont be answering anything from Col55, just not worth it. I would have give up at page 1.
