Seagate Certified Repaired Unit?

So after my Seagate hard drive failed, my local computer firm said they can get me a certified repaired unit from Seagate, I'm just wondering what this actually mean? Is it the exactly same drive that you send off but repaired? What happens to the warranty? Does Seagate do this sort of service in the first place? Are all replacements through Seagate certified repaired drives?

Sorry for all the questions, hope someone can explain it to me thanks.

If it's a Seagate certified repaired unit it should come with a Limited warranty usually between 1 - 2 years, where as a new unit would be around the 5 - 6 year mark. The retailer could tell you more.
