I know day-z is stand alone now but i've been playing rust for a few days now and i've enjoyed it more than pretty much any other game its so much fin with friends where we've built a base and messed around I was just wondering how come no ones mentioned it on here.

What i'm trying to say if you want to put your computers to good use make sure you look into rust as in my opinion one of the most fun games i have played.

It can get so frustrating when you build up a base and it gets broken into or players kill you but you always come back better of and breaking into some one else's base with loads of stuff in is a great feeling and great fun.

So OC3D Take a look at it :)

Its stupidly popular, what are you talking about? :P

IMO its crap, I bought it the day it popped up on steam and I just don't get the appeal of it. Just reminds me of minecraft and Dayz, without the good bits of either.

I know its like popular on steam just seems no ones spoke about it on here and i prefer talking on this forum as every ones nice :)

I bought it recently, progressed quickly and i think the most fun is blowing bases up so to enjoy it i think you have to play it for quite a while.

Rust is great, what other games can you kill a deer and receive raw chicken breasts?
Have you see what happens when you kill a chicken? lets just say i'm currently eating deer meat. ;)

16 hours not long enough? ;P I used to play minecraft PVP (back in the days when I actually liked minecraft...) alot and rust is basically that.

I use to play minecraft to but it ended up being just crap so rust for me feels a bit more natural.

Playing it with friends made it fun too only problem is they got pissed off at me when I died with good stuff on and then about 10 minutes later they both died.

Try blowing some ones base up it will make you feel better :P

I came across this not long ago on Steam and had a look as first impressions it looked okay but after the trailer I was like meeeeh.

the trailer doesn't do it justice it doesn't show you shooting your friends/new spawns and stealing other peoples stuff :L

DayZ/Minecraft Ripoff #2000?

its the best ripoff out there tho, its made by a developer we should trust (Garry newman)so i hope he improves it and actually makes something that is different to both day-z and minecraft

Yup, play DayZ or Mincefract, or even both. Rust just makes me feel sick, like literally.
:'(

DayZ looks much better in their trailer when turning on friends, unfortunately I've only ever met QuietOne really and we end up dying of something else.

Rust is too Minecraft like, everything just looks brown and meh I think it's what makes me feel ill, silver and grey used to have the same affect on me.

DayZ is also going to allow you to build bases I believe so it should do a much better job. There has been a few patches since I last played it over Christmas so for all I know it could already be in there.

I do that on DayZ all the time :p

I haven't actually played day-z so being thrown straight into rust has been allot of fun but i guess you are recommending day-z? if you are I might get it then

I'd recommend it yeah. :) If you've got £20 then it's really worth a look, it's quite a hard game though, there is a thread on the game if you fancy taking a look.

Rust is the best playing game in the survival genre right now, compared to DayZ and Nether, etc.

It is not original in any way, shape or form. Is it fun? Well that depends. Do you like the idea of SMP Minecraft without the voxels? No? Then you won't like it.

Simples.

Thank you for a sensible answer :P

I enjoy DayZ alot, it has a very good sense of the hunter/hunted roles. Its incredibly atmospheric and good fun with friends. Its far from perfect however. I personally have alot of performance issues (due to how the game is currently unoptimised/runs on that darn engine) and its quite lacking in content compared to the mod (obviously its still in development).

the arma engine and AMD CPUs aren't really friends.

well, i am sick and tired of the minecraft gameplay and especially when devs try to make it look good with high textures and such it just looks stupid imo. i always used at max a 32px texture pack in minecraft.

Yep. There is a way to force the engine to play ball with my cpu (I run the cpu count 'fix' on the other ARMA engined games I have) but DayZ doesn't like it. It doesn't like it to the point where it locked my pc up. I'd imagine if it was a Bulldozer CPU it'd be sub 20fps all the time. As it is I can get 40-10fps max settings. Not one for the AMD cpu crowd currently ^_^
