Routers better than others?

Here's what I think:

CISCO>OpenWRT/Unix/Linux*>Draytek>ZyXel>netgear-buffalo-Inventel>Speedtouch>belkin-USR-3Com-Linksys(new)>Safecom

*WRT/Unix/Linux = Custom Firmwares/PC Based etc (IPTables/IPChains) - Old Linksys etc

I wouldnt go for netgear, dlink or belking maybe there high end stuff is good

I got into my neighbours Belkin wireless (well my laptop connected to it str8 away). Also the password on the Belkin was blank, so I could get into the admin panel without a password.

I installed a DLink WAP+PCMCIA card for someone and had nothing but problems. Random disconnects, bad wifi range etc. Put in another one to extend the range and had even more problems.

I ended up putting a old Linksys in there with a custom firmware which allowed the WIFI to be amplified and the range was 2x that of the 2 DLink WAP's :(

I think a while back, the DG834G was considered one of the best gaming ADSL routers? I remember it getting loads of awards and there was a review on adslguide or something with some tests where it was 1st in almost all of the tests, including the ping test.

Done the same thing with someones belkin when I lost my internet for a week

I have the DG834G V2 and When using more than 3 devices it doesnt seem to work well (reboots)

I have heard someone say about this, they said they updated the firmware to sort it out.

I think all the latest ones are v3
