Reservoir/fluid problem.

I have a problem with my reservoir walls. It's turning green like algae growing on the inside. I'm not too sure if it's the coolant, since all the tubing are fine. Just the reservoir side. I rinsed out everything before I put the loop together. I'm using a bitspower reservoir and mayhem ice white pastel coolant. I really don't want to take it apart, clean it up and having it show up again. Plus it's fun taking it apart. So is there any advice as far as to prevent this from happening in the future??

Mayhems Pastel does *not* require a kill coil. (Believe me nothing can live in that stuff, the amount of chemicals in it)

What tubing are you using with this coolant?

Fittings? Blocks?

What are your temps as well?

Is that picture of the res orientated as it is in the loop?

I'm using primochill primoflex advance lrt tubing. Xspc gtx780 block & raystorm cpu block. Bitspower fittings.

As far as temps, Cpu is hitting at max 70C under load and gpu 45-50C under load. I'm not too sure about coolant temps, since I have no way of measuring it. I haven't really stressed out the system too much.

Yes the res is orientated vertical like in the picture.

I've used Mayhems Pastel white and never had this problem...

did you have all the parts new?
and did you add anything to the loop??

Is it just me or does it look like UV damage in the pictures? But that said it does look like old dye has seeped into the Acrylic, I can't see it being the Mayhems coolant not with all the killer chems in it... mmm

is that actually part of the res acrylic gone like that or does it look more like a deposit inside of it?

What's making me scratch my head, is the fact it looks like it doesn't continue behind the res retention bar. THere's a white bit between where it's discoloured and where it meets the retention mechanism.

Have you got UV lighting in the case? Is it next to a window?

OMG, I can see the face of jesus in that.....

:D only joking, but it does look a bit like off milk.... just looking at it is making me feel sick....

then i think the distilled water that's had a bad reaction with the coolant, did you use mayhems distilled water?

No I did not use mayhems distilled water.

Actually I took a look at it again, there's nothing in the back. Just the front side. It looks more like deposit. I don't have UV lighting but there is daylight and some sunlight in the afternoon.

I had to look at it again and it kind of does from far. haha. Just the res is off milk.

.

Well then yes you do have UV... lol

The sun's rays are not just harmful to your skin.. but to your loop as well.

What's baffling me is that it's only on the one side. If sun gets on it at all I'd definitely be pointing to the sun as the culprit here especially with the fact it's not affected behind the retention bracket (is it? can you check?)

Yea it's not affected under the retention bracket. So It is the sun.

So how would I prevent it from returning. What about cleaning the loop out? Should I drain all the fluid, flush everything and use new coolant? Sorry this is my first time under water. Thanks guys.

As I suspected, I'm afraid if the sun has caused clouding to the Acrylic there is little you can do but replace it, the acrylic is essentially white before moulding and sets transparent and what the sun has done is bleached it by evaporating the Methyl crylate.

EDIT: Science bit over  replace the res or if it's new-ish RMA.. the next stage for the acrylic is to go brittle and crack.
