nLite does not have the option/ability to remove IE from my unattend XP SP2 installtion soure. The option isn't even there. Is there another easy way to do this?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found everything using the search feature.

If I chose to delete IE for my new OS image, can I install it back on if need be?

i think IE can be reinstaled yes, but i recmmend against uninstalling it. more things than youthink use the IE engine to browse. steam updates for example and some antvirus updates browse with IE in the main program window. also windows updates you need IE, so it may be better to just ignore it.

The only problems i found with uninstalling IE was:

1. You dont see any of the latest news on Steam

2. When joining a CSS server, you don't see the MOTD

3. You cant use Windows Update.

If you can put up with those gripes, then the speed improvement is very noticable.

XMS, do me a favor: seeing that you've removed IE, download the mozilla IE tab addon and tell me if it you can download from update.microsoft.com.

I know I can (using Mozilla and IETab) but I still have IE installed and I'm wondering if it just opens up IE in a Mozilla window.

Nope it won't work. Mozilla spawns an instance of IE for displaying pages in IETab.

I've never once updated my Windows install, and never once had a virus/spyware or been hacked. A good firewall and virus scanner keeps me good.

the file saved as a zcompressed (rar) file. so i exracted it, gone onto nero, clicked 'create bootable disc' (closest i could find) and it now says across the top of the files waiting to be burnt 'click next to add the boot image from a bootable floppy... what do i do?

burn.jpg

did that, its made WinLite.iso as a winrar archive. i wrote this file to a disc earlier and it didnt boot :o

its not a winrar archive, but winrar can open .iso files to show you what is inside

open nero, and load image file, browse to the .ISO file and burn :)

Hey this is nifty. Ive wanted to take out IE and OE soooo much but never knew how. This is going to give me such an increase in performance.
