I have no idea if this is the correct section to post this to so mods, move it as you wish :)

My Dad wants to buy a laptop. His budget is £600 give or take.
Use for it is fairly light, internet browsing and all that. No gaming or heavy productivity.
He insist that the screen size has to be 14" and it doesnt matter about the resolution being Full HD(1080p).
Also if possible, for it to be nearly silent. The one he has now, just opening Chrome makes the fan spin and stay spinning until it's shut down.

Any recommendation is appreciated.
Thank you all in advanced.

Has to be 14" sadly.

Is it only Lenovo that i should be looking at when looking to buy a laptop?
I read a thread a few weeks ago, cant remember where it is but basically most of the replies were saying look at Lenovo.
Yeah it seems Lenovo or even dell are the only ones really worth looking at atm (excluding gaming laptops, in which case MSI count as well). I've also had lenovos since they were IBM and they've never died on me. This one might fit your requirements better (Lenovo Flex 2). They seem a bit gimmick-y but they are solid. Very nice screen as well, especially for the price.

Why the heck is that thing so expensive, my laptop has far better specs and cost me less.
Anyways, for light web browsing 600 quid is a waste, get him some cheapo 14" Notebook, any will do.
because its gimmicky. Also I've seen that for much cheaper. I believe most of the price is down to the screen. Pretty sure thats the same panel as some of their ultra books.
