RAM not working....

Hi All,

I brought some new RAM for my son's laptop, it's a bit of a legacy system which uses PC2 RAM.

It already has 1x 2gb stick in and this new addition would of made it 2x 4gb which would be its full capacity. When I add the 2nd stick and then reboot the laptop I get an error "BOOTMGR image is Corrupt"

What is causing this? Is the RAM faulty as it works fine when removed. Both sticks are identical.

Thanks

"BOOTMGR image is Corrupt"

This is a complaint about the bootmgr file that is on all hard drives, that instructs the computer on how to "boot" - funnily enough. Often is the case that it's not really corrupt.

Try the new stick in place of the old one. If it fails - chances are the stick is at fault. The sort of thing like memory setup on a laptop 'should' be automatic, you can try getting into the bios and loading defaults, save them and see what happens. Very hit and miss that it'd solve anything.

Try the new stick on it's own tho first.
