Ram / memory compatibility with 2 different modules

Ok so ive decided to revive my old beast Xfx 780i from a couple years ago and need some ddr2 ram. Now all I managed to find is 2 x 1GB sticks of Team Xtreme 800mhz 4-4-4-12 in my component cabinet and want to add more.

Im planning to add 4GB more so 2 x 2GB DDR2 sticks to my motherboard, so it will be 6GB total i dont think there is a point of going to 8gb since there is not much difference and it will cost me about $100.00 to get 4 x 2 gb sticks of ddr2 !

Now my motherboard says it can take

Memory Standard DDR2 800 (up to DDR2 1200 with EPP 1.0) Now im not 100% sure what that means in terms of lets say ddr2 1066. So i have a couple questions. A. if i buy 2 x2GB ddr2 800mhz with timings of 5-5-5-15, will it work along side my current ram? and im assuming my current ram will adapt to the slower timings right? B. If i buy 2 x 2GB ddr2 1066mhz ram will it work? and concidering speeds are different will it drop to 800mhz ? and will it also adapt to the slowest timings? Sorry if something does not make sense! but im not 100% sure as ive normally purchased matching modules.

You will have to set it all manualy to the slower sticks, but TBH the performance gain from 4gb to 6gb is hardly anything noticeable.

Your best bet would be to just grab 2x2gb of what ever you can get for cheap, yes you can use up to ddr2 1200mhz but in all honesty 4gb of 667 or 800mhz will have little to no noticeable performance loss in games/general web browsing and it wouldn't really be worth the extra cost to go higher unless you can find a cheap set of 1000/1066/1200 mhz on ebay (you probably can do with a bit of a hunt).

I dont have 4gb atm i have 2gb 2 x 1Gb sticks as said above so will be 2gb to 6gb upgrade, i think it should be a fair increase. was just unsure about timings

i meant only use the 2x2gb kit its alot less hastle, if your planning to overclock then i can advise this even more as 775 was super picky at times with all 4 dimm slots filled.
