hey guys im planing to do my new build soon witch wiil have the i7 2600k on a asus maximus 4 extreme.

i was thinking of getting 8gbs of ddr3 g.skill ripjawsX 1600mhz CAS Latency: 9-9-9-24 1.5 volts but then thought about getting 8gbs of Mushkin redline ridgeback 1600mhz Cas latency: 7-9-8-24 1.65 volts.

now when looking at the asus maximus 4 extreme the DIM socket voltage is 1.5 would the mushkin redline be ok at a lower volt or would i experience any problems? what one would be better? or is there any other dual channel 8gb ram kits i should take a look at that might be better?

thanks

from what I see there basically the same if you either raised the ripjaw to 1.65 you do tighten those timings to match the muskin or oc it some. or if you dropped the volts on the muskin to the ripjaw youd get same timings but prolly drop to 1333mhz

cool thanks. i didnt explain very well but what i was wondering would the mushkin ridgebacks work on the asus maximus without droping the volts or playing around?

Hi,

I think the ASUS MAXIMUS 4 EXTREME will support 1.65V RAM in the BIOS settings by creating the voltage. I think the Mushkin REDLINE is better from looking. This stuff is 6-8-6-24, LOOK: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...4+Redline+Ridgeback+-+996970+?productId=42726

2 available SPECIAL WEB ONLY PRICE an they'll sell 1 pair per person so you'll need a companion to buy the other pair

They have RIDGEBACK in black and maby it's identicle performance: http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Comp...+6-8-6-24+Ridgeback+-+996826+?productId=41787

I think you can't go wrong with 1.65V on that board and email Mushkin for confirmation and I hope you get the answer here and PM TinyTom the administrator with a link to this thread cause the administrator TinyTom doesn't reccomend PM'ing the question

it's about £68 with delivery for a pair of these SPECIAL PRICE REDLINE's from ARIA(2GBx2)

The ASUS ROG boards are powerful

It is compatible with ASUS MAXIMUS 3 FORMULA and CROSSHAIR 4 FORMULA

Here's Tom video for the REDLINE:

There is a Mushkin section on this FORUM

If the red REDLINE RIDGEBACK and black RIDGEBACK are otherwise identicle I recommend you get 1 of each for superior colour matching with the motherboard

The REDLINE from ARIA is RED not ORANGE like ARIA's photo, I got mine from ARIA
