PSU for OC'd 290 CF + 4690k

I'm planning to go CF for my build and the last part to decide on is the PSU.
Superflower, Seasonic, Corsair come to mind as reliable companies to look at but I'm not sure at what wattage should I look get?

What are the rest of your specs bud? Just for clarity etc.
I'd say a good superflower gold 850w might do.

Specs: Maximus VII Ranger, 4690k, 8GB Ram, 1x Powercolor 290 PCS+ (planning to add the 2nd), Xonar D2X, D5 pump, about 12 fans. Overclock on CPU and GPU as well.

Are you sure about the 850W? I was thinking more along the lines of the 1kW model since 2 overclocked 290's will pull quite a bit of power if I'm not mistaken.

850watt will do but if for peace of mind a 1000watt will just give you more headroom. As long as you get a high quality unit/brand it will do its job fine.

Personally I would choose the Corsair ax1200i it is a really good power supply with a very good warranty and it's platinum rated efficiency and also has corsair link which is nice touch, all round a very nice power supply and will give you quite a bit of head room with the specs you listed.

Easiest way to do the wattage is to add up the TDPs and add a bit.
290 = 275W (x2 = 550W)
4670K = 88W

So combined thats 638W. Add 10% for overclocks give you about 700W plus a few for fans and HDDs etc. So anything of decent quality 750W+ will be fine. You won't be running that many watts in practice all the time anyway probs more like 400-600W under gaming loads.

^^ careful with the above calculation, the 290 can actually comsume more than 275W escpecial since OP plans to OC.

A better (safer) estimate would be about 300W for each card and 100W for the CPU.

So you should really be looking for a quality 1000W PSU, a good 850W would be fine as well though.

RM750 would be ample with buckets of headroom. Just stick to a quality unit and one you know will be quiet. Its not just about wattage

You are right, however the rm750 only just has enough amps to run just the 2 290's in Xfire as each require 31amps to power(as recommended by amd). So he is just on the edge of what the psu provides and that is not inlcuding the CPU and other hardware he listed. He would be pushing it near max most of the time. He is better off with higher wattage psu since it can provide more amps/wattage.

Thanks lads!

I think I'll go with the 850W Superflower, although I've seen the EVGA Supernova 1000W P2 (which is made by Superflower as well if I'm not mistaken?) with that 10year warranty which looks damn appealing.

Superflower is very good. Them and Seasonic are probably the best.
