Ps2 + HardDrive?

I have the old bulky PS2. The ones which you have to buy a seperate Network controller.

I just found today that it molex power and IDE harddrive slots on it. As shown below.

Does anyone know how the harddrive gets found and used on s PS2 or was this part never developed?

Can't see how.. Seeing as you will have to cut a hole in the front of the PS2 to get the drive to eject.

There was always a hole in the PS2 called the "expansion Bay"

You can put most your games on the HD using HD Loader or HD Advance and run them off the HD. This is usefull if your laser has gone.

Thinking about this my laser is going, hmmm *pops on ebay*...

What size is your HD? If its over 120gb you will have to get HD Advance 3.0 to support up too 300gb HD's. Btw I don't endorse the copying of games that you don't own the original's of.

Thats what I will be doing!

Seeing as my PS2 doesn't read the ever ageing PS1 games I have. I wanna give this a go using a Harddrive.

After all this time me saying The xbox rules because it has a HDD. Now I have found you can run games off of a HDD using a PS2. I am once again impressed!

Need to find a harddrive now.. DAD!

Man I saw this earlier and assumed that you know a HD can be put in a PS2. I thought the HD was on the actual network card thingy and got confused - LOL!

My mate had that HD loader thing and it's pretty awesome. You just need to be able to run the HD loader CD. He's got a huge list of games on his. GL gettin the cd and HD

aww i sold my ps2 for £60 inc 2 controllers and 5 games (after the mrapoc refurbishment can of air and WD40 ftw)

I used to use HDLoader. Watchout though, you can't play online with it. You must not have the HD running, and the actual DVD in your system to play online...so no piracy.

Would this HD loader work with a USB HDD (HDD in a caddy in my case)? Or am i pushing my luck here...

As long as that harddrive has IDE and molex it would.. May have to take it out the caddy case..

Its an SATA drive, and i dont wanna have too buy a network adapter or take my drive out the caddy. Both my PS2s have usb ports...

Would be awesome, but i dont want too have too format it. Got 150GB of backed up stuff... Just have to go back too waiting for an emulator.

And yes emulation would be legal as i own the console. Twice...
