Projekt Suma Kuhl 2013

This is true. The dimensions of both cases are similar. I'll leave mounting 3 480mm rads to you. I can't WAIT to see that.

2 560s, actually, and possibly an additional 480 (I'm not sure yet if it will fit, it might collide with the M/B width-wise I found out yesterday. But I'm not giving in just yet ;)

Luckily, there's more than one way to skin a cat!

Luckily, indeed :)

Now, where do I get the money...

May I suggest:
  • drug dealing
  • selling weapons
  • prostitution
  • etc.

Or, alternatively, something legal

Oh snap. Forgive me kind sir. Forgot about the 560s. You have suggested some very lucrative endeavors [except for legal]. However, I would like to be available to enjoy SkyNET instead of having wifey send me pics of it in the slammer! LOL

*forgives*

That is of course an argument against said endeavors. Can't have people who depend on you get screwed by your extra-legal adventures. :whipping:

In that case, I suggest a combination of patience, persistence and a (legal) job

EDIT: Or several jobs. That's what I've done. /EDIT

Holy crap-balls, this thing is turning out INCREDIBLE!!! Never seen anyone do a mod quite like this to... well... really anything. Sub'd, definitely looking forward to further work being displayed!

I appreciate the kinds words. That means a lot. I gather from your status on this site you've seen many builds. Any ideas of where I should go from here? Also do you know of a company that makes a coolant resembling mercury? I want my coolant to look like mercury is flowin' through this loop. It would match up nicely. ^_^

That would be Liquid mayhem's tharsis red looks amazing but only rated for about 6 months and thats with no dead spots in your system where the pearlescent material can settle.

Thought about it for awhile in my build but the cool effect is just not worth the trouble of changing out your coolant more often.

DAMN!
That's wicked right there. Changing every 6 months is not the business. I'm not looking for that type of "folding" in the fluid. I'm aiming for the way mercury looks in a thermometer - just the color really. If that stuff lasted longer and came in gray...shut up and take my money! Thanks for the input. I didn't know that type of coolant existed. Will def keep it in mind for later builds.

If you know someone who's a chemist (or knows a chemist, or knows someone who knows a chemist ;)), or maybe a chem lab worker, they might be able to do this for you. As far as I know, it (that Mayhems stuff) is not extremely complex to manufacture (meaning it does not require a million dollar lab to make), you primarily need to know how.
You could possibly even do it yourself, there might be enough info on the internet. Tricky bit might be getting the supplies.

However, since I've never tried it, I might be wrong on that one. But I think it might be worth looking into.

LOL yeah I was going to suggest the Mayhems stuff, but it does have issues. The main thing to consider is a compound to add to the mixture that will not mix with the water, not degrade heat dissipation of the solution, and hold it's own color mixture that will give you the mercury look you desire. Wish I could help out more than that, but that's really as far as my particular knowledge goes on the matter without having done a bit more research first :-/

I'm gonna look for a good "mercury" colored coolant, and read the customer reviews if any. If not that maybe some pitch black coolant will be nice also. There won't be too much visible tubing after completion of both phases. I'm essentially looking for a reservoir color. I might even go for some black colored tubing as well. I would LOVE to find some car radiator hose in the dimensions needed. Weighing options and decisions take longer than the actual fabrication!

Interesting. I could go for a good grey colored coolant.

UPDATE!!!
The Corsair 800D is pre-cut for a 360mm rad in the top. Today I mounted one of my 480mm rads there juts to see what it looks like:

What I remembered when doing this is quite awesome! The pre-cuts are countersunk:

So, when I mount the 480, the remaining 120mm space that doesn't have a pre-cut has a 5mm - 6mm gap to the top of the case. This is not a great picture. The shadow you see is caused by the gap:

Since the Nocutas are low RPM I believe that is enough space to prevent noise from turbulence. The fans for the top rad will be exhausting which prevents the need to cut an intake for the neglected 120mm fan. I REALLY didn't want to chop up the top of the case. Now I know it is not necessary. 3 480s it is folks! This rig is going to be EPIC! And, it will be as quiet as a snail sliding across glass in a deprivation chamber! :dribble:

Stay tuned...

Great mod although don't like that raw alu look, sticks out a mile. I guess you haven't got around to painting it yet?

This looks amazing man. I've always been a fan of the 800D, just not too keen on the price tag :D. Love the removable mobo tray mod (you are planning on putting an exhaust fan port back into it, right? Lol just wondering). Nice job so far, consider me subbed.

Actually, I'm not planning on it. The way I have the rads set up on the bottom the air from both shoots straight up which will be sucked out by the top rad fans. I need that space for Phase 2 of the build. Thanks for taking a look.

Ah. Okie dokie. I trust your judgment haha. Can't wait to see what "Phase 2" entails.

UPDATE!!

I couldn't log on to this site for a lil' bit. Wonder what that was all about...

So...

I chopped the front facing side panel for the plexi window and port for the fans. I REALLY screwed up the port cut. The plexi cut is acceptable for now. I can clean it up further with a file. The port cut might be salvageable. The lower left-hand "corner" is just awful. I took an angled shot of the work to favor it some. Geezus...looking straight on you'd think Michael J. Fox helped me [goin' straight to hell for that one!]. :p

If I can't save it I will order another, maybe two more from Corsair. Rinse and repeat. This was my first time making curved cuts with the jig saw. I didn't have any spare metal to practice on.:o

I also found a spot to grab some 30mm socket end cap bolts to mount the fan grills. Much cheaper than buying them online. The screws that are provided with the rads are JUST long enough to attach a 25mm fan with - nothing else. Slapped the black fan grills on the Noctuas. To me it kinda calms the unique color scheme of the fans down a bit.

I am contemplating fabbin' a whole new MoBo tray with a thicker sheet of aluminum. The current one does not line up flush with the rear I\O shield. This has been bugging me for a cool minute. Hopefully Lowe's or Home Depot will have sheet thick and large enough.

Stay tuned...
