Project Steel within

Really nice metal work mate.

Thanks

I just ran out of welding gas and there appears to be nowhere in Surrey that will refill my bottle!

Might have to take this back to Essex to get it refilled

80% argon 20% CO2 mix. I cant really do anything without it cos the metal just spits everywhere and makes bubbly blobs rather than nice welds

Looks sick. Pity about the gas though

Thank you. Ive found a gas supplier in Essex where I borrowed the MIG from, fingers crossed I will have a refill by next weekend.

Until then im cutting and bending bits so its all ready and I can just weld it all together. So hopefully it hasnt set me too far behind.

Delays with IB will probably mean im ready with the structure before I have any components anyway so not too much of a problem.

I think that the WH40K colours would look nice on your build. I think you just have to be careful that the yellow is not too bright, other than that I think it will look nice with that colour scheme.

Cheers for the input guys, I think it will be something a little different and look good if I do it well.

Yeah I agree about the yellow, its going to have to be a little dark and dirty looking to have the right feel. I was thinking yellow coolant and put a little black or something in to take the edge off it.

Yeh that sounds good. A bright yellow might look good with a dirty looking paint job.

I finally have gas! Now I can continue

Want to get the rest of the welding done so I can get some paint on before this rusts too badly.

Hey guys, thought I would put up a quick post as I haven't updated for a while.

Basically my partner and I split up and so I haven't been that focused on the project recently. As we live together its meant ive had alot of stuff to sort out thats taking up my free time for now.

Hopefully things will settle down soon and I can get on again.

Sorry to hear about you and your partner - hope everything goes as well as it can.

As for your project, it's bloody marvelous! Awesome idea, bravo.

With that rad you should be able to throw absolutely anything at your rig, and it'll still be quiet.

Thanks for al the informative updates, also.

I guess you've got up until April 29th to get everything finalised.

I shall be following this, as it's extremely interesting.

Regards,

Josh.

Thank you for the kind words, im glad it is an interesting read

The release dates are creeping up on me. Still I think im past the worst of the building stages, the rest should go pretty smoothly. Well assuming the bank balance holds out anyway

I think the res would be awesome there, especially with some kind of water fall type feature, just bear in mind how much fluid it will take to fill up that monstrous rad AND a huge reservoir
biggrin.gif

Other than that looks mint so far
smile.gif

yes the amount of fluid would be pretty high. Im estimating 4L in the res alone and thats if its only a few cm thick :S That would be if it was completely full, if its a waterfall it will be less but this system is going to be thirsty. Still I can get DI water for free so I might get away with it, not sure how happy the pump will be though...

This is yet again a case of artistic vision verses practicality
