Project: Rebuild because eBay computer parts suck....

I'm not going to lie it took some major coercing to get everything plugged in and screwed down in this case with that giant Silver Arrow mounted to the board! In fact I am missing the top center mobo screw because I can't get a screwdriver down in that gap to get it screwed in. Oh well! lol.

I actually enabled the Q-Fan control for the chassis fans and set it on Turbo. When the computer is idling it brings it down to a very low dB level and my idle temps are only a few degrees higher. I think I'm going to keep it like that. I keep the CPU fans cranking full blast all the time.

Have you tried fitting the heatsink backplate and its accessories, and the motherboard onto the motherboard tray before mounting the actual heatsink? That way you may have a better chance of getting all the screws tightened on the motherboard and the heatsink afterwards. The Silver Arrow is huge. How much space do you have left after sliding the side panel back into place?

Oh that's cool. So you're letting the BIOS control the fans according to system temperature. I think you can keep the Silver Arrow's fans at max fan speed. They're actually quite quiet at full speed.

I thought about that but in the end I decided to get the heatsink mounted to the mobo before installing in the case which I think ended up being a bad idea.... Well not so much a bad idea but not the best idea rather.

There's maybe 5mm gap between the side panel and the top of the Silver Arrow, it's a REALLY close fit. I was worried for a moment.

Maybe after you get Crossfire to work and everything stable, you may want to set that last screw into place and redo the heatsink just to make sure. It's just a precaution. That is a really small gap. It all works out in the end.

The mounting system for the Silver Arrow kinda blows and trying to install it with the board in the case just sounds like a somewhat daunting task that I don't really want to undertake, LOL.

I think I am just going to cope with the one missing screw and call it good, lol.

Crossfire bridge is confirmed for delivery tomorrow (I'm so impatient I spent $19 to have a $9 bridge overnighted so I could play with it over the weekend, hahaha).

Yup I know what you mean. My friend has a Silver Arrow that I helped him mount. It's not bad, but I still think the most user friendly mounting system of all the heatsink manufacturers is definitely Noctua.

Wow....$19.00 USD, that's a bit overdone for shipping of such a tiny piece. If only teleportation would work....

gratz man nice looking rig. That's alot of hard drives. Wish I knew you were looking for a bridge I got 5 of them laying around I would of sent ya one.

Thanks Peirce. Yeah to add insult to injury on the bridge when I tried to place my order yesterday the first two times I tried it gave me an error on Newegg saying their system was offline and to try again later. Well on the 3rd attempt using a different card it worked. I woke up this morning and found that the other 2 attempts charged as well and they are getting shipped today. A total of $105 for 3 crossfire bridges. I contacted Newegg and they told me it's too late to cancel the other 2 orders and the CS lady even tried to tell me there wasnt a glitch in their system, I was like "were YOU there when I tried to place the orders?? didnt think so, why would I make 3 seperate overnight shipping orders for a dumb crossfire bridge to the same address lady????" Ugh, IDIOTS.

Now I have to refuse to the two packages and wait for a credit, SO GAY!

Got my crossfire bridge installed though, good stuff.

I got 7701 points in 3D Mark 11, is that admirable?

Oh man, tough luck there. Hope you get everything resolved soon. At least it's saved up and you can use it on future purchases.

Isn't there an option in the BIOS to activate Crossfire? I can't remember. AMD Catalyst drivers should automatically detect and do it for you right?

You're all set for some gaming once BF3, COD3 comes out.

I'm stuck with Warhammer 40000 Space Marine at the moment....just waiting for patch updates and the Co-Op to get released.
