Project Mountain Dew (pics to follow)

I haven't been able to do too much today but I have decided to put 2 x 120mm condensers together which will take up two front fan bays, also I am going to use a tube type heat exchanger it will just look like a big black coil inside the case this will take up less room and should be ok for some low temps :)

Looking good Fatty, I like Gangster's idea of a chrome finish, don't know how much that would cost but that would definately look good and different.

How about white led lights? Not sure how it will look against aluminium but its another option to think about? Depends wether you decide to keep it as it is or anodise etc.... Just my thoughts :)

Well I am building it to sell on so I wont anodise it even though it would look great so would chrome but as it is it still has a semi brush look to it so???

In the condition its in id go for red then i think that would look pretty darn good.. Id go with uv tho as i think leds are too bright and would reflect too much from the case where as the uv would give it that nice glow ;) Just my idea. Im sure whatever you decide will look fab m8!

Dave

Well I have ordered in some blue led fans for the front may use a different colour for the rear ..... but I may anodise the case or even chrome it up :D

small update I have finnished the heat exchanger :D

The can is just to show you the size :)

Well I am doing a little testing on the unit at the moment it is nearly silent however it is only running 210W of heatload at 10 degrees which IMHO is not that impressive I think I will re do the cap tube on it, I did try it on the 420w heatload and ended up burning out one of my resisters :(

I will do some more testing later today then if I am happy I will give her a bit of a tidy and stick her into the case

Ok as I was not happy with this project I have trashed it I am now building a lovely cascade into my MM case pics of the first stage

The H/X needs insulating and the box under it just gives it a little height till I insulate it

And here is a quick shot with both compressors

Oh my. I`ve never really realised how damn big those cases are!

I guess you wont br trying to pick it up :)

It now has a new steel base with solid rubber wheels :) so no need to pick her up :D

Not good found I had a couple of small leaks on my flare fittings and one on a joint noooooooo but not to worry I will test the first stage today once I fix these minor things :)

Ok guys first stage is up :O

After a little tweeking

The H/X is pretty much 1/2" with 1/4" inside when you bring it out you connect 2 x 1/4" outlets onto it the cold gas flows around the outside of the hot gas

I forgot to mention initial testing was with R134a so the temps may get a little better when I purchase some more R507

This is awesome Fatty - great work. Where are the computer components going?

I thought this would be the way you did it after reading a bit and talking to Gray :)

Very nice work there mate, I may come up and have a look as I'm really not that far from you ;)

I think you will find the case will only hold the cascade Nick ;)

That is correct it is just a stand alone cascade in its own box and on wheels it should just reach across straight into my case without too much problem

It would be ideal just to slip another mm on top :) with all yer other kit in it :)

Yeah I assumed there wouldn't be room for anything else. I was going to suggest sticking another MM on top.

Seem like a good plan to me mate - double decker MM with built in chiller on the top one for the GPU's :O

I have spoken to Grey about this and if my memory serves me right it is possible but not really advised plus it would cost a fortune to run.I suppose it depends how powerful the cascade is.

I dont think Fatty's would be used 24/7 but i suppose you will have ask him about that.

At the moment it will just be a bench cascade which I may sell on as I have had interest already but built with the right protection yeah it can be run the same as a mach but it will use more power I think in the region of 10 amps??

Plus it will warm a small 3rd world country

Ok well the second stage is now nearly complete I haven't cleaned her up yet but here are some pics
