Hi there i'm somewhat new to these, well the writing part at least. I'm building myself my first gaming rig from the ground up i have a list of parts that i think will work well together any suggestions would be welcome. i'm looking to play Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Crysis 2 and all of that type of game on high settings across a triple 22" display system. here's what i have so far:

CPU: Intel I7 2600K

MB: Asus Maximus IV Extreme Z68

CPU Heatsink: Noctua NH-D14

RAM: 16GB Corsair LP Vengance (4 x 4GB)

SSD: Crucial M4 64GB SATA (just for windows 7)

HDD: 2TB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM

GPU: Sapphire HD 7850 2GB OC (will get another at a later date for crossfire)

PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro M 700w (big enough?)

CM Storm Trooper case - i'll get the windowed side panel at a later date when it becomes available at retail

This will be the first system i have built so any tips would be appreciated.

thx

500w should ok for 1 gpu and 750w for 2 gpu

so you reckon that i need at least a 750w if i'm doing crossfire? thx for the tip i'm also looking to overclock as well, will the 750 be enough do you reckon or should i move up to an 800 / 850w psu? cheers

700w should be ok for 2 gpu's and over clocking but 850w is a good all round choice imo

cheers for the advice i'll have to shop around. know of any decent priced 850w psu's? i'm looking at modular but i don't want to spent a fortune because as its stands the rig is gonna set me back about £1500 including monitor keyboards ect.

now the forums back up lol.....

yeah i had a look at this sie but i think its out dated because the GPUs only go up to the GTX 590 and Radeon HD 6990 there's also no mention of SSDs.

i subbed in two HD 6850s hoping the power draw is roughly the same but i'm not sure of the wattage but anyway it recommended about 500/600w psu.

- You do know an i7 is going to be useless in a gaming rig? ^^ same for that motherboard, unless you really really really want the red and black look of it... Just sayin', you're about to waste money. i5-2500K is all you need with a less overpriced mobo.

- Also 16gb of ram is too much for your usage. 8gb will still be plenty.

- 700w or 750w quality psu will do the trick for overclocked cpu and 2 gpu's. (I much prefer Corsair AX series)

Will be an awesome rig ;-)

Yeah i know most of the power will be wasted for gaming use and i was going to go for an i5 originally, but i do a lot of music and video conversion of huge files / series so i decided the extra HP was worth the expense, as for the MB your probs right but i like the feature set and when i have the money i'm goin to get a water cooling solution and OC the hell out of it and this MB is great for getting high and most importantly stable OCs. And the coulor scheme is always a bonus!
