[Project Log] TOXIC CHROME (modded Corsair 250D)

YV2iYvL.jpg

Things are getting a little bit tight in the case!

I figured out the loop for the build, I might need some more fittings to make it work and keep it nice and clean. Need to get the cables in first and see, they're currently on the way from Icemodz :D

Excellent job dude, this is coming along beautifully. Props on the G3258 ;) I can attest they are fantastic chips, can't wait to see your clocks under water, I was running 4.6Ghz with the H100i.

Thanks a lot man. I really hope I have a good chip and I can overclock the hell out of it, hope the Gigabyte board can handle it too :)

Sweet work mate! I have a weak spot for small, tidy rigs!

Thanks, haha so do I, love doing these little build :D

Chrome hardpipes?

Those words do funny things to my pants. I NEED to get that done to my rig!

Hahaha, I'm still figuring that out, would love to do it and the Primochill fittings should be all good for it. Need to get the copper tubing, cutting and bending tools :)

man those EK res looks nice in that build.. and that blue theme is just amazing :) This is becoming one the best 250D build I've seen to date. You're doing acrylic tubes right?

Thanks a lot, glad you guys like it :D

Yup definitely doing acrylic tubing :D

I want to do chromed pipes too but then that will take away from the effect of the clear UV fluid I will use as it won't be seen much.

I'm now thinking of doing two versions of this build, I will complete it with acrylic tubes and UV lights with the UV fluid. And then might get some copper tubing and all the tools required and give that a go too, change the LED strips to white and the fluid to a blue matching the colour of the case. Should be pretty interesting :)

Okay guys, here it is! The case is nearly done, just need to get the acrylic windows on get the front panel Corsair piece on after cutting.

Maybe some of you have been waiting to see this since I announce the chrome painting. I hope you guys won't be disappointed as it this is not chrome but still looks very very good and I really like it. Like I explained, actual chrome paint or chrome plating would have been too expensive for my budged.

The panels are spot on and any imperfections you may see are all reflections from the surroundings. Though to bring the case outside to really showcase the paint job.

The front panel and also the rear case feet have been colour matched to the blue powder coat!

You can also see I made an acrylic piece and mounted it on the inside to cover the 5.25" bay. Drilled a small hole in the middle for the power button cable.

Dust filter

And the front panel cover, might need some cleaning up around the edges but really happy with the glossy look

Here is a good look at the side panel paint job

Will end up using the Blue vandal switch, fits better than the nickel plated one. Lucky Bill sent me this one too!

And this is the front panel cover, the Corsair shape will be cut out and then painted same as the side panels. This will be stuck over the original front panel cover and still be able to use the clip on feature and access the dust filter behind it.

Let me know what you guys think! Shady here seems to approve!

Thanks for checking it out!

Ooooooh THAT is where the chrome is :p

Thanks :D

You've probably finished it already before we officially changed our logo... still looks nice nevertheless :p

vnVTZ97.jpg

Yup pretty much haha, glad you guys like it :D

The new logo looks cool but I was a bit bummed about it given I used the old one on this build. But then the way I look at it is that this case came with the old logo anyway so should be all good. Will look really nice once done :D

Think the windows look very good on the outside, something different! What do you guys think?

Thanks for checking it out!

Cheers,

Alex

Love the silver, don't like the blue.

That silver is lovely though. I used to have an Area 51 ALX in 'saucer silver' and it's right up there with my favourite colours of all time :)
