Project Impossible

A friend might want me to build him a PC so I was pricing it out tonight. Now here is the thing, he is going to be doing game design in college and so kinda needs DX10 and he will probably have to play games for his course so it needs to be powerful. He also wants a Core 2 Duo. The clincher is that it has to be about $900 or less. This has to include a monitor, keyboard and mouse. Now this is probably impossible but I want to get as close as possible. What do you think would be a good motherboard. Also I am incredibly scared about power supplies these days as I have seen many go, so what would be a great, cheap, powersupply? Thanks for the help.

PSU: Corsair HX520 Modular- Arguably one of the best PSUs out and only ~$110

Or you can get an Ultra X2 or X3. I don't care what people say, the reviews speak for themselves.

He wan`t a C2D m8y, just a slight massage required tho.

EDIT: Newegg like quick on deliveries and generally well priced ?

What he wants and what he gets are two different things. An E4300 alone is $30 more than both the mobo and proccy I selected. T0ss in a ~$100 C2D mobo and now we're quite a bit over budget, I've already cut corners in almost every other place while retaining the integrity of the components. He's not going to get everything he wants on that budget factoring in the need for a monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Replace the enemax with a targen tbh:rolleyes:

Keyword being.... and the survey says................................. BUDGET!

And by Targen, I assume that's 'tard lingo for Tagan?

I have absolutely no clue why either of those jump out at you over the Enermax which is modular and better suited to the smaller case and has been proven to be a very reliable model.

Hmm

Perhaps?

Those two are cheaper and will do the job without a hiccup.

Why are you trying to go cheaper when we're already under budget? You start talking Tagan and we're tacking on some $$$. No need to downgrade PSU's when we meet budget.

Thanks for the help everyone, you went over the top with the new egg list, thanks. Gonna see if I can squeeze a Core 2 Duo in some how.
