PSU=Seasonic Vertex Gold 1200 - it's annoying that the Prime's in usable wattage are basically unoptainable in UK / Irl.
Motherboard = Change of heart and a line through the Crosshair X670e, hello Crosshair X870E. Figured I'd have more success running 128GB with the newer board. SlimSAS = connector for my Optane drive :)

My Ryzen, TridentZ, Sam 9100Pro disappeared into a customs warehouse on the 9th.. Nothing heard of since. Even the courier isn't getting anywhere. Used to be that I'd be going bananas right now but I'm pretty zen. It means my SlimSAS to U.2 will be available for the build so I'll be able to keep an Optane about for i dunno, random stuff :)
I've even stopped myself from having a play with the X870E (have a R9 7900 here too), it'll boot with the 9950X3D or not at all.

Hope that the parts get through soon.

Hadn't heard of SlimSAS before, had to look it up. Supports breakout cables like on an HBA. Weird that secure erase wouldn't work. I'd assume it's all the same protocol being used, just a different connector.

Probably an Asus bios bug. It allowed me to erase a Crucial T705 no problem.

I should expand on the flaky bit. Unpacked the Hero 870, populated the CPU, cooler and memory. Powered by a Seasonic Vertex 1300, enough juice. Powered up, waited for the, memory training and into the bios to see what's what. Bios date was the initial release (Aug 24)
Quick turnoff Sata, baby XOCP and disable the Asus spam, save and reboot. Back in successfully but running at 6000MTs. I plugged in the SlimSAS connector, Optane recognised and booted successfully into Ubuntu. K, let's update the bios... Again successful, again back into Ubuntu, no problem. I plugged the Crucial T705 in.. Hangs at 22 and 2F which suggested memory. Stick in, stick out, different slots, into the bios on one stick, failed next time. Pulled the crucial drive out, put Corsair memory in, booted. Put a Samsung 970 Evo 2TB drive in, booted. Put the 64GB TridentZ in, booted.. Flaky. Installed Win 11 and some Asus spam got through, the driver updater thing. Anyways, as soon as that touches the graphics, corrupted screen, hard lock. Could be 3 things now, I've a weak cpu, the latest W11 builds (consumer and enterprise) are flaky, or the newest, non reversible bios needs work.

Yeah it's been a while since you upgraded this build, I'm waiting on Zen 6/7 atm to see as tbh the 9070XT I have is doing mighty fine and i would personally say unless you can get a stella deal on a 7900xtx definitely go 9070XT simply due too the large advantage with upscaling in comparison with FSR4 as sure the 7900xtx will have FSR4 it just wont be as good or as fast going by testing i've seen the AI chip is the key difference obviously but it's very much worth it.

I have a 9070XT too but haven't engaged too much as it has limited ROCm support. My 7900XT is fully supported + given my preference for a bit of water cooling, I've not rushed into it. Alphacool have a block ready so will get one on order once I get back from holidays. My main kit is still under lock and key in a Customs warehouse.

Well I thought they just added ROCm support but it's not something i use myself but i've been looking at different AI things where it utilises my card outside of that i'd not be as clued up on it tbh but i'd expect it's a time frame kind of thing and still early days on anything fsr4 related with 7k series but it'll be weaker even once done by how much idk tbh.

Not yet, should be here with ROCm 7 which is due land in H2, you can get access to it via cloud but on bare metal still at 6.4. Who knows, maybe the 32GB 9070XTX will show up with Zen 6 :)

Gone away to the hothouse that is the south of Europe for a few weeks. Some observations:

Don't like the quick release gpu thingy on the Crosshair.
Do like the Gen 5 main Nvme quick release on the Crosshair.
4 x 32GB is no go under any built in Bios settings. It will boot into 3600 but no go at 4800, 5200, 5600...
The O10 XL is ginormous 🙂. Pondering getting an AC Fat 360!
I'll be sticking to Noiseblocker eLoops - swapping out to the new Noctua's would be quite expensive (18 * 30 something..)
