That's right, it's time for another reincarnation of Frag's rig! I've come to the conclusion that with my current financial situation I can't afford to keep replacing hardware on the basis that owning a phase change system seems to require. I'm ready to have some solid and easy to work with. Thus my decision to migrate back to air cooling. Yes, yes, I did think about getting another watercooling setup until I determined that I just can't be arsed to deal with that right now either. On another thought, I've always wanted to have a very quiet rig, I have NEVER had one, so I've also going to be using some uber quiet 120mm Scythe fans to keep the noise to a bare minimum...

What am I getting rid of?

- Vapochill LS

- Lian Li PC-60

- DFI ICFX3200

What am I replacing it with?

- Lian Li PC-A10A

- Zalman CNPS 9700 NT 110mm Ultra-Quiet HSF

- Intel D975XBX2 "Bad Axe 2"

- 4 x Scythe S-FLEX SFF21E 120mm Case Fans (1200RPM - 49CFM @ 20dba)

I'll post pictures in this post as the parts start coming and I am able to get everything swapped out and in to the new case!

:beerchug:

2/12/07 - The first parts have arrived, only thing left to come in is the case, and that will be here today!

Sweet mate. Those Scythe will still be noisy unless you stick em on 5v tho

They're gonna be strung up to the Kama so I can tune em just right :) I thought about getting the 800RPM models that are only 8dba but I didn't know if 33cfm would be enough airflow.

@all about the Vapo: I haven't started looking for a buyer as of yet. I'm going to sell the Vapo and case as a pair since the case is already modded to fit on the Vapo. I'm going to put the price @ $600 for the pair + shipping costs.

Frag is the DFI u have now condemned ? or u just not gonna use it ?

Not quite sure, but I'm going to eliminate it as a cause of my current problem by replacing it :) hehe

From what Jim was saying, the XBX2 seems to be the most solid board on the market and with me going to air on the basis of wanting my computer to be simplistic and just work, it fits the bill.

$600 for the pair! That is an insaine price! Bargain! I'd take em for that but shpping would kill the vapo...

BTW - Deadlywind, c'mon dude, that name is cracking me up! You been eating sprouts or something? Wouldn't Turbulance or something along those lines suit you more? Don't mean to offend ;)

I'm actually using a name from the paintball industry when I used to play, it's always stuck in my head :) I do pass some pretty nautious flatulants though :p

After the chilli I had for dinner last night I would rule our turbulence on the same grounds.:(

Very sensible Frag! Get those debts sorted and then you can buy the king of all systems!!!

I bet it will still turn out to be a beast of a system here, much better than mine. I'm still on air cooling, it gets me by :)

Air cooling FTW to be honest. I don't think there was anything more aggravating than when I had my SLI water loop and having to change a water block or a video card, total PITA! I like the simplisticness of air, so easy to change components and futz around.

Oh yeah, I'll be using the Xeon 3070 that I bought earlier in the week in the new build and selling the E6600 which may not be dead after all.

Good to hear you senseble-ising frag:). Should be a dam good set-up!

And if your even in the mood for sub-zero cooling you can take it outside (atm here) and tada!:p

Same here! :)

Here's a question, do we think the knobs on my Kama Meter are going to stick out too far to be able to close the case's door? Looks like it's going to be a close fit if it fits at all.

Motherboard, heatsink, fans, and Vista = all here :) I'll post up some pix when I get home.

Case comes tomorrow, and then the building begins!
