<PROJECT CHROME>

Looking excellent there phil...am already jealous.

blue is the one i would go for myself with the chrome...

may i also reccomend you fit one of the cold cathodes on the side (left) of your case next to the exhaust fan as i do with my rig.

i use double sided tape to attach the CC and zip ties.

That way nearly all of your motherboard will be lightened... ;)

doesn't those cases have a thin coating to protect the aluminium,

so when buffed up, the coating is gone?

btw i think its looking like a killer

I'm not aware of anything like that mate - even if there is a layer like you say, it will be replaced when it is re-anodised.

Thanks for the comments guys. I intend to get the panels completed this weel, I cant wait to see how it turns out.

you and me both mate ;) im seriously contemplated buying some tools in the future and doing some groovy mods, tho for promie ill let u do all the hard work :P well wen i get round to buying the damn thing ;) firstly i wanna check out its not my CPU preventing the overclocks

fanz etc

folks - where d'ya get fans and water cooling stuff from? Anywhere you'd recommend? I'm after 80 and 120mm, preferably quieter, fans

sw

silent but shiny?

Phil

The volumes of air shifted by the fans you're using don't see to stack up - Sunon 190 cfm, vantec 80mm 27 cfm. Are you running the Sunon slowly? It also don't seem the quietest acc to the figures. Is that your experience

sw

Yep, I'm running the Sunon @ 7v which is almost silent. To be honest, as long as there is more intake than outake I will be ok. The two 80's at the front running at 100% provide enough intake. The rear fan could be 7 volted, I'm not sure yet.

They are definitely not the quietest fans produced, but.. they are pretty exceptional. When you're talking ultra quiet you hardly get any air pushed around the system at all - obviously in an overclocked system like this I need to comprimise. That said, it's still going to be "ultra" quiet when it's up and running.

soundproof the mofo (unless you want shiny chrome inside, even then there is a lot you can do.), my water cooled rig is silent & I mean silent, you cant even hear the speaker beep on start up unless side panel is off..

Will be fitting out new rig with soundproofing, will take piccies & some tips Ive picked up along the way.

yeah that was a consideration however IMHO it would look better in a black (or darker coloured) system than in mine. I really want the aesthetics to show, including the inside of the case and I think the matting will just dull the appeal.

Right guys I have the majority of the parts back from the polishers. They look AMAZING. It's the best finish I have yet seen - hell, I could even convince my wife to pop this little fella in the lounge now. It looks sweet. Piccies to follow as soon as I have time to put it together.

Phil - I was wondering last night what had happened to Project Chrome. Will be interested to see if piccies can get across the true finish - or were U planning on photgraphing your wife, or your lounge - or that real winner the Packard Bell system of yours ! :p sw

The Packard Bell takes centre stage.

Here's another little update. I am working on the PC60 now, unfortunately the front panel is buckled and I cant use it properly so I will have to get another one done next week.
