This is the PC shelf installed and ready to go. as you can see it comes out quite far giving enough room to work on it. It can all so detach and allow the pc to be moved else ware to be worked on. All so close up pics of some of the controls with in the cp. There is still the wiring to do yet but that will be done later on ....

Learning the basics of etching and working on some plastic just to test out my bad skills. ive never done anything like this before so i just jumped in with both feet and made my own dremmel holder and spent 20min testing out my skills .. My god does your arm feel like it's just gone 10 round with some woman's (some men's in today's climate as well) favourite toy ......

p.s I feel my tennis elbow come back very soon !!!!!

Pics below of my rubbish attempts lol ....

Yeh its not perfect but for me its a start i need to learn to walk before i can run hence i started with some thing a little simple. You can tell its a alien lol so its a start. Im going to give it a go now with some thing a little harder and see how i do. That alien took approx 20 min to do so i think the next one may take some time. Ive got a nice big bit of Plexi to play with so hopefully buy the time ive gone though it ill be oky to start on my CP ...

Etching looks sweet deal, dude!

How easy do you find it? I've only recently discovered it and I'm pretty keen on finding out as much information as I can about it. :D

Keep up the good work!

just read the sticky mate that's all i did. i all so had a look at over tuts and to be really honest remember using tracing paper as kids well this is no different accept you need a lighter touch and that's it. Oh and take light stokes and take a rest every 5 to 8 mins lol ..

a bit more test etching. I don't think the Bumps on the egg worked out very well but hay ho its all about learning. Im now going to attempt to do the aliens allot smaller now as the sizes i have done are quite large and my Cp doest require them to be that big. So ill now have a go at doing them 1/2 the size while seeing if i can still retain the detail. If that works we can see how things go from there.

Pics below of the face hugger coming out of a egg. This took about 25 min to make. Not to happy with it though. I think the best design so far is the second alien.

Im going to post what ive said on some other forums. Look carefully at the face hugger coming out of the egg. i got a load of what i would say funny comments saying it looks like a big fat women ... i didn't understand what they were saying. But this morning after being awake for 24 hgrs and feeling tyerd i looked at it again and OMG Rotflmao it does .......

The pic looks like some lass with big fat legs and then the face hugger is coming out of her torso and trust me that's not what it was supposed to be but it does look like that lol ........ haha i dare not do any more ill dont what to see what ill come up with lol ...

i think that must be the first time ever ive done any thing like that and been so nieave not to see what i has etched ... but hell its a different alien that's for sure lol ...

haha, I couldnt see it either for a while!!

Ignoreing that little part, the etching looks good! I remember trying to do some when I was back at school years ago... turned out awful to say the least. Yours looks good man, nice work :)

This is a very fast dirty test to check out lighting on the alien designs. Just to see what it would look like. I can see the 3mm led's really are not enough to light up a full panel so ill have to try out some 5mm led's next to see what effect they will have.

The 3mm btw have been drilled into the plastic but like all things that come from Hong Kong only 1/2 of them work lol ....

again sorry for double post but this is another one ... Just to keep this tread upto day with what im testing out.

Must admit its not easy this time I'm trying to learn to feather touch and see how it comes out. When doing it lightly you hardly see the work your doing (or it could be because i have bad light) any way i tried doing this with the lowest dremmel points ...

012-1.jpg

After a second look i then re did the head with a larger point to make it stick out more. I think its a fine line between what looks good and what doesn't lol ...

Then added a CCFL tube just to test it out for idea's ... Its so dammed hard taking good photos of this stuff lol ...

These are quite close up so it looks a little wobbly but then again i haven't cleaned it up yet neither. ........

15 min later lol -------

Oky first alien finished on the CP ...

Need to do more work but you'll get the jist of what im up to ... The alien is approx 2" in hight and 3.5" in length so as you can see its really quite small but i think there is a lot of detail in it for such a small picture. Took about 1/2 to create
