I was using a dremel tool until it broke on me, should have replacement soon.
but in order to get the sharp corners & flatter parts I used a sharp blade & file
bit slow & a paint, but my only options with the tools i have.
dose the job anyway :)

The red jet flows should look absolutely amazing in the front there mate!

Yeah, i love the deep red of them, hope to try keep most the red in the desk as close to that as possible

well i think i used the wrong words for my question, i speaking "hardware"-wise. will there be an external usb switch thing connected to the pc or how will it work? because i made my own desk too (work in progress though) but the one thing i cant find but do want is that! :D so teach me sensei

no mate, im using a internal USB connector going straight from the MB 3.0 socket
using powered external USB adapters in other places though

ouuuh, i saw it in store while looking but didnt consider it possible, than its just a matter of removing the plate and mod it into the wood? still, thanks a lot ^^

yeah they just need a bit trimming of, depends on the space you want to stick it,
not a lot to them though so you can more or less strip it down to just the sockets & wires

I like this. Sod moving house with it though ! my big oak desk was bad enough.

lol.. hopefully with some help from friends it will get moved bit by bit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

90% of the paintwork is now completed,
as with the last parts I painted, the top is black base with clear matte (2k)

one final sanding to sharpen the edges

20150605_172054_zpsczyiiibv.jpg

A wipe down with some tac cloths before starting the 1st base

20150610_163639_001_zpsba6pvv5d.jpg

small amount of water sprayed all around the desk to keep any dust down

All the parts together, but not in the correct placed as the paint needs a couple of days/week to harden
should give you a good idea as to what it will look like when assembled

it looks amazing! love the design, great painting too. Hup hup and build the rig! :D

Looks so good dude! Epic painting skills too mate! :)

Im happy with the paint job also, but its was scary lol
not joking when i say i spent months planning it & learning from some guys that used to
do paint jobs on my motorbikes,
going to have to give them & some others a mention once the desk is completed

Fair play to you for having the guts to try it. Many, myself included, would not even attempt it, let alone get a finish as good as you have done :D

That is a reward winning desk. So close. I can't wait to see equipment go in and THE LIGHTS

thanks :)
im working on some of the lighting atm, & i shouldn't really complement my own work but
the paint looks soooo nice when the light hits it, very hard to explain, parts look transparent or holographic :O
others stay very dark, finding it difficult to show how it looks with my phones camera though :(
