Imo go for a X38 board, a cheap C2D O/C it. And wait for the next gen CPU's.

Managed to get rid of that RAM so I have another £80 to play with. Looking to do some overclocking so can I afford DDR3 on this kind of budget? If not could you recommend your personal DDR2 favourites?

crucial ballistix, any kit is amazing, the 5300 kit can goto 1400mhz

ddr3 isnt worth it

Well with boards that can support 1066Mhz RAM I wouldn't have thought it the best idea to start at half the possible speed.

and besides, overclockings fun, dont dis the kit for low stock speeds, it can pwn most kits when overclocked

I'm sure there are 1066 kits out there that can clock even higher.

sure other kits can clock higher, but they cost more, and for little difference.

Well seeing as I got extra money from that RAM it means I have about £150-200 for new RAM.

Hi Deshman, seeing as how you've got that much to spend on new RAM and Crucial seems to be the way to go, the best price I have seen is on MicroDirect, they have 2*1Gb of PC2-8500 for £60! If you read the reviews on NewEgg people are pushing it really far on the stock timings, although some people seem to be having a few mobo compatibility issues.

Thanks for the tip but I need 2GB sticks if possible to leave the choice of 8GB in future (or now if it's cheap enough )
