Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Yeah maybe i jump the gun a bit when i said 2019 more likely being 2017 to 2018 when we will see DDR5 for motherboard i think.

wut

DDR5 isn't even finalized, there could probably be no DDR5 after DDR4.

Remember that DDR4 developement started 2 years before the launch of DDR3, 10 years ago.

Yeah DD doesn't change very often. Usually when it does it's a bit rubbish at first and takes a couple of years at least before it finally leaves the older tech behind. DDR4 seems to have bucked that trend though which is nice.

Plus a little bit of future proofing as I'll have 4 sticks of DDR4 so when I do upgrade to maybe Z270 or whatever they call it I won't have to buy new memory :)

What if for the broadwell-E refresh which we all know is coming very soon ASUS released a Rampage V Formula, that could be a thing again :p much futureproofs or what if there were RGB Dominator Platinums. You know your buying all of that stuff again probably before the end of next year.

Changing is fun though like i'm not saying I wouldn't at all, i'm sure i'll get a lot of new stuff this year but erm, i'd expect more life changing products to come along that make the term future proofing look irrelevant. The best way to future proof a setup is to add an elaborate water cooling loop so it's just physically difficult and time consuming to change things :p

Given Intel have been hitting Moore's law with CPUs lately then theoretically the CPU could last him years.

OK, so I know it's Dice we're talking about here so years probably mean ten minutes but still...

Also, an actual pic.

I'm just slightly addicted to getting new shiny things, I'll keep doing it as long as I can ^_^

You got a 2nd Fury X ?

I did mate yeah. Since the Beta version of Fallout 4 (and me installing the second iteration of Crimson) Fallout 4 performance has tanked for me at 4k. The game was always playable (the city areas were bad but once you got inside the building I was getting 40-60 inside) but just lately even that has tanked.

I'm pretty sure it's been fixed in Crossfire, so it will boost me hopefully to a solid 60 FPS.

Not only that but the X2 is about to launch and AMD always have the drivers completely nailed when they launch dual GPU cards so yeah, I'm worried but not hopelessly so :)

Pretty cool, Throw some pictures up when you get the chance :)

I've used my old build log here.

http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=72185&page=6

I started it when Tom very kindly sent me a new PSU and I had to replace it and the fans etc. I've had to make a custom bracket adapter and order some more fans in/cable combs etc but it should all fit OK :)

Edit. Some other smaller purchases. X3, even though I only actually ended up needing one. I need maths lessons DOH.

These.

And one of these.

My 2nd Matrix Platinum arrived today, Let's hope this one doesn't go pop XD

me too haha.

I was talking to tech support and after I explained everything it's either 1 of 2 things, CS says it sounds like a popped capacitor and 8Pack said it sounded like a faulty VRM which is odd as it happened at stock clocks/volts whilst I was reading my emails ^_^

As long as this 1 stays healthy I'll be happy :)

I like the look of that new Asus Freesync monitor. Dominator? something like that. It's basically a Swift with Freesync and costs about £430.

I will see how Fury X Crossfire goes first. Fallout 4 is sorted apparently so that's me sorted for the foreseeable and I hope the new Tomb Raider supports it also for some high end 4k fun.

I asked my wife to get me Battlefront for my Bday but it doesn't support Crossfire so they can sod off and I'll (hopefully he says) get Tomb Raider instead :D

But now your Asus GPU crapped itself...

Probably ^_^

The 4K monitor I use mainly for Elite Dangerous as it's hardly demanding with no AA and my Swift I use for every other type of game.

Unless you REALLY REALLY loved the beta I'd wait for a sale for Battlefront, I'm a huge star wars fan and I've played around a total of 3 hours.

It's shiny graphics with good sounds but boring gameplay after a few hours.

Yeah so I hear. I have a couple of chums who were looking to buy it too though.

I dunno, I'll see how it goes. Still not 100% sure if the second Fury X is going to fit yet and if it doesn't I have to go back to the drawing board and make another adapter plate that lifts it even higher than it is now. I forgot that the Fury X rad has a stick out piece that may foul the bottom rad *sigh*.

What a massive frikkin PITA.

Computers, eh?

Waiting for the case (an In Win 703 kindly offered by a colleague), I'll soon update the mobo bios and install W10.
