Post A Picture of Your Last Purchase

Yes, yes it will :) although I do like the standard colour, breaks down the red and black a bit.

There is one more thing I want to look into, Getting a mid-plate but I want it to have a mirrored like surface to show off the clear block underneath after using LED strips to light it up a bit, only problem I have no idea where to start lol will have to be A custom cut as the 360 rad and EK fittings stop the normal mid-plate from fitting :(

Send Coldzero an email on their site, Might be able to do something for you :)

Yeah I just spoke to them, the can do a custom mid-plate, just gotta figure out how to measure it all out to fit around the rad and fittings.

Might look for some mirror type vinyl wrap to stick on it.

All this hassle for perfection lol

It's worth it in the end though :)

CZ lazer so they can use extruded mirror acrylic, tell them to get it. We've used it in the past but it doesn't take kindly to being machined, it would be slow for us.

As I still don't have the board for the 6700K I decided to get a refund on it and buy myself a 5930K and Rampage V Extreme a workmate was selling for cheap, £450 for both.

So yeah, 6 cores and 12 thread goodness, Now to sell of my 4790K, Maximus VII Formula and memory for cheap :)

A jump from Z97 to Z170 would have been stupid anyways. X99 makes more sense.

Up the multi, up the volts.

It really is quite simple tbh. Well, until you decide to change the strap.

But thus far on X99 (and like X79 before it) I've found that it's easiest to just up the multi and add volts as needed.

I couldn't overclock any higher taking the more complex route.

Can you only get 4.2 or are you just keeping the volts low for temps etc... ?

No that was done ages ago. I had heard that most 5820k top out at 4.2ghz fully stable so I just set the sliders and left it there. Then one day I got bored and decided to play with it a little bit more. I went from 4.2-4.4 and then 4.4-4.6ghz. I stopped at 4.6ghz as I didn't want to risk the PC.

Cinebench.

Asus Realbench 2.4 I *think* EDIT yeah it says so on the title bar :)

Hottest core was 71c which is nothing, especially when you consider that the cooler is basically a H55 (crap).

And it really was as easy as typing 46 into the multi and just moving the knob to add voltage.

Apparently 8 Pack reckons that later 5820ks are the result of Intel binning for higher end chips, thus, most will do 4.5ghz easy. Early examples are pretty awful.

When I had my X79 rig (MSI BBXPII) I was given a guide by a guy on MLG (which I no longer visit) and it was incredibly complicated. It allowed me to push my 3970x to 4.8ghz. Thing is one day I was messing around and deleted the profile and I couldn't be faffed with messing around so I just slid the multi to 49 and gave it 1.47v. Job done lmao. Then when that board broke and I replaced it with a Asus RIVE X79 I just did the same thing, only this time was a bit more conservative and just gave it a 47 multi and 1.42v.

Overclocking with X79 and X99 is as complicated as you make it dude. The one thing to remember is that your chip will have its limits and nothing more so you can waste forever trying to get your head around straps and offsets and so on or you can just punch in a number, give it some volts and usually come out about the same overall.

X58 on the other hand? that was a complex animal. 95% of chips on that board had no multi so you had to use the FSB meaning Uncore QPI and god knows what else.

Just bought this 960GB SSD for £143

was only a mere £40 higher than the 500GB version.

My gaming rig will soon be all SSD.

I've been all ssd since day 1:p

Aye, it will make a good change. Wanted to get rid of the mechanical HDD for a while now.

Now I will be using a Crucual MX100 for OS and programs and the new 960GB for games.

I really want to make a NAS solution in the future for dedicated storage as I'd really want to have some redundancy.

I've got my 256gb RAIDR to boot from/Windows/small apps and a 480gb for games. I really don't need any more than that. Still got my 600gb Velociraptor for music and films and a 2tb for backup storage.

There's just no point in putting in an SSD to play MP3/FLAC/videos from though really.

You will love it! Makes everything so smooth since everything is ssd and transfer times are improved as well. I'd like to setup a small home server or a little NAS box as well but couldn't afford it:(
