Peltier on waterblock

I've just bought a watercooling kit from eBay, and it comes with an extra northbridge waterblock which I don't intend to use.

I was wondering about having it outside the case, with a Peltier attached (~100W - with suitable heatsink/fan of course).

Do you think this is worth doing? Anybody tried it? Or should I just try it out and see

Cant see why not. Give it a shot and see what temps you get.

You want to put it right before the CPU and after the radiator though, otherwise the water will be getting warmed to room temp as it goes through the rad into the CPU

Will he be able to power the tec from his psu? I know I needed an additional one when I had a tec.

I think tecs are a waste of time due to how inefficient they are :/

Not worth it in terms of power no, but worth the effort just so we can see what sort of temp drop it produces

I was planning on using an extra PSU, mine probably wouldn't take the extra load.

Well I have all the parts to try it laying about, so I don't have anything to loose by trying it. So unless anyone has tried it already and it didn't make a difference, I'll give it a go.

I'm not expecting wonders, but it my cpu gets pretty warm on load so it'd be good to be able to flick a switch and have a bit of extra cooling.

I'll post the results when I've tried it out

just make sure that u insilate incase of condensation or u will lose more than u think

I plan on attaching an eBay peltier somehow to my res and using a CPU cooler to cool the peltier.

Idea is that the peltier will chill one side of the res and the CPU cooler will such in air through a logo'd hole to cool the peltier. All the bits are here ready to install my loop in its most basic form but I need at least a normal splitter for my GPUs as I don't won't them "serial" cooling as they are 8800GTXs and may get too hot for liking. I hope to have a switch also just for helping cooling. Possibly a relay mechanism so once over a certain temp it comes on then under goes off. Its all good

I doubt the peltiers i'm looking at will cool well enough to get condensation on the res let alone the piping or anything else but DO INSULATE. Its better to be over precautious than risky and break everything.

that sounds really nice but may get expensive to automate it. also it is possible to cool the liquid so much that condensation starts to build up. make sure u have some way to regulate the amount of cooling power the TEC out puts
