PCI frequency & Graphics cards

Hi,

I've got PCI frequency set to 103. In Bad Company 2 the V Sync isn't great and this 103 setting has improved it. I've raised the Graphics cards voltages as a precaution.

Does anything for the Graphics card setting need adjusting to work with a higher PCI frequency?

A small variation in PCIe frequency is fine for most PCIe bus based components, including videocards. Anything under +/- 5MHz should be ok.

Your 103 MHz setting shouldn't affect things too much, provided that the motherboard doesn't occasionally overshoot it. Even if you manually set it to 103 MHz, it's not really going to be fixed in stone at that value, it will occasionally oscillate around it.

OCing the PCIe bus can sometimes reduce yuor FPS in games.

Maby it's better set to an even number. It's at 102,104 or 106 now. I might be mistaked though I think it gave a better result. It probably depends on maths

Interesting subject. I've always considered putting 101 in for a mobo "just incase" it's 100 turns out to be 99.xx in reality.

Be interested if you see any actual benefits beyond stability.

nvidia boards used to switch to 125mhz when you ran sli to gain a little more performance.

theory goes more mhz is more bandwidth but depending on the chipset you can cause issues if anything else uses it as a base clock.

iirc 107 mhz on the pci e should be your max but dont quote me on that.
