P4 3.8gig dual core 1066mhz FSB

i have been told from a few people that the new dual core P4's r shit are they talking about just in gameing or all togeather. another thing is has anyone actually tryed the 3.8gig 1066mhz fsb cpu to see what its like or is it just rumours from one person to another. i read a review where they used a 3.2gig dual core 800mhz fsb cpu and in windows it was hella quicker but in games it equaled to a standard 3.2gig i was told thats because games are not programed or something to run dual core yet is this true? if it is wouldnt the dual core be alot quicker when games do support it. i dont care about games not supporting it just yet but i would really like to get it because i have gone all out on my computer and the cpu atm is holding it back with my wow factor too lol.

it isnt worth the money, wait a while for new intel cpu core, and see how things go there.

they are shit from what i read... in one of the mags i just got an intel spokesperson admits that they suck.. because they forced them out of the door too early to compete with amd... they just started developoing them like may 2004 or something not to long ago.... and they dont, like amd, have seperate memory buses for each core which seems to be a big killer... he went on to claim that the pressler will be better.. but still wont have independent memory buses... i love to see intel sink

edit: from what i have read the poor performance is partly the applications/games lack of coding for dual core... and also because they chip is not a proper dual core in a sense since its just an extra core.. but a shared memory bus... i havent looked into it much... but i think youd be smart to hold off to see if the presslers are better(i think thats what they are called) or go with an AMD ... i havent heard bad stuff about the x2

i have a p4 640 atm oced to the 3.8 so no point getting the 3.8gig cpu. i have just built my system so im not changing mobo or ram the mobo is already good and ram is good enough.

i have gone all out on my comp and didnt have enought money to get the good cpu ie 3.8gig and im trying to update my loan and if i do i want a really god p4 cpu to go with rest of my system. but i should have gone for a journy and actally got a amd but i never liked em but that was ages ago when they were shit. i just had a thing for p4's. as i like to do alot of stuff at once. i just want a wow factor for my comp and i want something better than my 3.8gig single core but i suppose i will wait. thanks any ways

Only thing I see that's wrong in this thread is Dav0s statement that games won't be coded for dual core cpu's for a long time to come.

Not true, games are already hitting the shelf with dual core support and I reckon any large title releases in the near future will also have dual core support.

True a lot of titles are being slated to have an extra setting that allows dual core machines to run the game more efficiently

ok yea but sorry to hear you went with intel because of some crackpot preconceived notion... but ill keep the fanboying to a minimum... even though amd rapes intel... both companies are sufficient although the price thing is why intel would have to seriously rework their business model before i used them... they have consistently performed better in media creation application, video editing/encoding, as well as image manipulation in photoshop and such... this is also because the better media programs are optimized for hyperthreading... and even though they win at this... this is ALL they win at and by a small margin... either way... grats on the new pc... dont go dual core intel yet... if ever... im not liking their refusal to go with independent memory buses which AMD has proved is effective... then again amd has been proving intels model to be stupid for a while now... ah well... heres to intel being destroyed :worship:
