Overclock settings gone after case swap

Hi I swapped back to my old case and booted up only to see my overclock settings were all wiped and back to default and the clock/date had been reset. To my knowledge, I don't recall knocking the cmos battery or anything, any ideas what could have happened?

Battery could be dead. They're finite.

Either that or it may have received a short or shock and reset itself in order to post.

I think you might be right reading around it looks like they last around 10 years roughly and I've had this motherboard for near enough exactly that amount of time. I don't know for sure yet I will have a good look at my system tomorrow.

Just tried this new battery I bought but doesn't work, won't boot. It is CR2032 like the one that was in there. Any ideas? I put the old one back in to boot.

I put the new one back in again this time with the + facing down, whether that made a difference or not, it is now working. Maybe I just didn't have it down properly the first time I dunno, either way. :p

Cool.

What I meant was they make those batteries with reversed polarity for other items.

Glad it's ok now though
