Oh the choices

Ive done some research from other posts on soundcards and headphones/speaker setups now my issue is choice.

Do i buy something like a siberia v2 or a corsair 1300

All i want is decent sound and comfort im not overly concerned about 5.1/7.1 headsets.

The speakers i use are a logitech x-530 surrondsound set
it sounds fine on the sabertooth onboard sound.

But im wondering if its worth buying a soundcard i have no clue.

advice please james :D

You're better off with headphones than a headset really.
Even if it's something cheap.

What's the budget?

Everything sounds fine on board - but things sound amazing through soundcards - so I would recommend getting one.

You'd need to spend around £50 on a Xonar DX I think to properly notice benefits

I have just got the Asrock X79 extreme11 mobo. Asrock claims the onboard sound chip is amazing & gets an excellent rating in the benchmark they used. Anyone know how true this is?

Thank you for the advice. I have not built my new rig yet, just started installing rads etc. today. I will let everyone know what the onboard sound is like in due cause. It is supposedly quad core audio? Cheers

Probably...

It's a marketing ploy though - pretty sure it doesn't actually do anything substantial.

Pretty much yeh. Especially for headphones - but then again, I can't notice a massive difference between onboard and my STX through speakers...

Could be because my speakers aren't good enough though... I dunno :p

Thx for the info i only picked the sibera or something similar because i wanted a comfortable headset and the ones ive used in the past kinda crush my glasses a bit :P

any ideas on a comfortable headset?

also whats the support like do they have decent software drivers? or is it a decent but outdated software?
