As many of you may have noticed I have been making video reviews as and when Ive been able to lately. From our point of view the videos have gone down well enough for us to seriously consider having dedicated video reviews. The idea would be less written info about packaging etc which we would cover in the videos, and just keep the text side of things to graphs and the conclusion.

This is an excellent idea TTL. I am lazy when it comes to reading reviews - tl;dr, go to the end page. You can tell this by the success of 3DGameMan. If you have a structered layout in the videos, covering all aspects, then I think it's a fantastic idea. Can't go wrong with it.

Would that mean more of your mug on OC3D????

Seriously though, less text and more visuals is definately the way forward.

Hands on approach lets the potential buyers of said kit get a better understanding of quality for one, lets them make their own conclusions as well being able to see it outside of a photo tent.

I too go to the specs if I am short on time and cannot read an entire review but always manage to find the time to watch a vid review cuz the hands on feel of it is way better for me get a look at new stuff. A pile of pics can only say so much and sometimes its not enough. More vid reviews = great idea:)

The idea would be:

Introduction

Videos (covering it it all)

written up test results

written up conclusion

Would reduce a 6/8 page review down to 2 or 3 pages.

Would be great having less text more visuals. I think you should put up a poll about it see what everybody thinks and then decide.

I was thinking about how it would work and got to the same conclusion as you posts Tom.

One thing that comes to mind is how would graphic card reviews work?

GPU reviews would be a box opening, nice upclose shots of the card, instalation maybe for big cards, footage of the cards playing games. Much the same as the Asus round up review, but with time Id like to get my video editing to a much higher level.

I like Toms face...its pretty and subtle on the eyes...More of your devilishly good looks please young man... XD

Number 2 for me...

True, but I read his wording on what he was going to do to the i7 930 and I don't know if I'm ready for a vid of that. XD

I always love video's of stuff - getting to see everthing as it happens is always better I feel - especially love box openings, almost like christmas come early!

Videos are the way forward, but I think it could perhaps be an option, there are still a fair amount of people out there with poor connection speeds.

No video and slightly more detailed descrition as an alternative option.

I know it may double work but trial and error may be the only way for you to find the happy medium.

Yeah, I usually read the reviews in the passing, so videos wouldn't be that helpful for me at least. However, I do think the packaging parts of the review would work quite well in video format (i.e. somewhat similar to recent reviews =P)

This is by no means a full replacement, more that we are looking at some introducing some reviews with less text but more visuals.

Full OC3D style written reviews will continue as normal with the smaller video reviews being an added bonus ;)
