I got a set of these in red a few days ago and after installing them here is what I think about them.

My very first review so be kind but constructive.

They come in two lengths, 1 meter (around 10.00 US) and 2 meter (around 15.00 US) lengths and they are pre-sleeved from the manufacturer. The sleeving is of good quality, similar to Techflex, and only offered in black.

The LED bulbs are 3mm's in diameter. There were no specifications on the brightness of the LED's or their power consumption. Being LED's, it's most likely negligible but knowing this information could be of use to us watt misers. I'm sure with a call to NZXT you could get this information. The kits are offered in a variety of 5 same color per string of LED's; Red, Orange, Blue, White and Green.

The PCI, IO control has a 3 light level intensity 3 position slider switch and an on/off button. There are no overly bright colors on the circuitry parts on the PCB to break the stealth design.

During my install I discovered the power lead coming off the PCB stuck out because the power lead is mounted at the end of the PCB instead of next to the PCI cover plate that it's mounted on. I'll have to think how I will correct this problem because it looks out of place just suspended out in mid air the way it is.

I also discovered that you had to have the areas where the mounting clips were going to be located cleaned very well and that you had to press very hard to get them to stay. I removed their adhesive and used 3M's 4010 heavy duty tape to make sure they didn't fall off anymore. I hope they switch to a stronger adhesive in the future

At the end of my routing I had about 9 inches left over so I had to loop it back and black zip tie it to the routed strand. It's not a problem except for the extra bulbs in one area. It makes it noticeably brighter in that one area. It would be nice in the future if they make the bulbs socket-ed in some way so you could just remove the offending bulbs.

I also noticed that the ends of the LED strings are terminated. It would be useful if they made them so you could interconnect them or daisy chain them somehow. Making all their strands 1 meter and connectible would offer some adaptability.

My kit included the following;

1, 2 meter pre-sleeved red LED string of lights.

14 Black mounting small mounting brackets with double sided adhesive (there weren't enough mounting brackets for my installation and I spaced them out).

1 all black pre-sleeved molex adapter.

1 black PCB mounted to an also black PCI cover plate (does not mount in Mobo's PCI's) with 3 position light intensity switch and an on/off button.

Results

Very nicely done, but still room for improvement. Professional, stealthy looking product and solidly built. The wiring, bulbs and mounting brackets are small enough you can hide it almost any where. I didn't even find any fraying at the ends or where the bulbs poke thru, or for that matter any where on the sleeving. I'll buy one again.

PRO'S

Bang for your buck

Excellent quality

Built in 3 stage light intensity control and on/off button

Stealth all black

CON'S

Weak adhesive for mounting brackets

Fixed bulbs

Non interconnect-able

Power output connection/lead needs to be re located next to PCI cover plate

Endless uses

Doh...forgot about my cheapo cell phone. Need to see if they make an interface cable for it and see if picture quality would even be worth posting.

It was me who voted horrible. Was nothing personal and was based on two things.

Firstly there are no pics. A review without pics is like a movie with only sound.

Secondly was for the crimes against the apostrophe.

Other than that it was well worded, clear and well written.

I voted good. It could do with some pictures and certainly some more punctuation but apart from that it was a good all round review. Certainly very acceptable for a first.

Here's a couple of basic, unedited snaps of mine. They don't tell the whole story but they give you and idea of what captian caveman is reviewing. Sorry, I never took any of the controller.

They are not a bad piece of kit really for the price however my one major complaint is the 10c molex adapter from the back pci plate where the controller sits. Who on earth has a molex power connection in this area?

Yeah the review is good. I used to have these before they stopped working. I might get another set of them as they looked brilliant in a case!
