No, it's already been said that the chips on the 690 are capable of pushing the power of two 680's. Also, it has been said that the 690 was designed for overclocking, unlike the 590, so we will see much higher and more stable clocks.

7970 CF for around £660+ is the best bang for buck vs £860 for 680 SLI or £900 for a 690 plus you get the extra 1gb of Vram with the 7970s.

I think if I, personally, was looking at 6990 or 690, more than one quality 19x12 screen, I'd probably not be thinking bang per buck.

Anywho, the widely available 301 drivers are incorrect here, the 680 and 690 are wading through sheet with them imo.

Big shout out to 7970 CF performance tho !

Will be interesting to see the 7990 now because seeing the 7970 CF results vs the 690, if AMD get the drivers right and add a little OC the 7990 will be the performance king with more Vram and around £150 - £200 cheaper than the 690.

Keep telling yourself that. It's a good way to convince yourself that you wouldn't sell your arm and leg to get one of these.

Let's face it... even if it doesn't offer a huge performance difference... we all want one.

I personally think it will offer much more performance when using surround.

£500 for a 7970 i paid when it came out, That to me was expensive and overkill. But £400 extra, just to see that FPS number be higher on the screen, no thanks.

Yeah I used to feel the same way about my 590... but now that more demanding games are coming out, I'm somewhat futureproofed for a while and I'm glad I put in the extra money.
