Nvidia: It's coming.

Exciting

I managed to cancel the GTX680 that was on back order so I could see what the news was tonight - I thought that at worst, I'll have to wait a bit longer for one if tonights news isn't what we think.

Two 680's would be more expensive, consume much more power, and we have yet to see how well the 690 will perform.

my gripes with it those far are 3... the price... in the usa you can get 2 680s for 1000 usd with out a question. 2 u can never make that a single slot cooler even water cooled... jdo tot he dvi.. thats just me picking and 3... the lack of vram.. if ur gonna get a card this powerful are you really gonna run 1920 x 1080? lol... 2gb of vram mirrored is not enough to run surround properly.. just my grips..

According to the spec sheet the GTX 690 has almost identical clocks to the GTX 680 while maintaining identical core count (per GPU) and the same RAM specifications.

So I would surmise that this card would perform almost the same as two separate GTX 680's - I'm guessing this is what they based the price on. I'm looking forward to see what ATi do with their forthcoming 7990.

Good god, $1000

that will make it at least £850 - £900.

Will be interesting to see the 7990 now and how it compares because it's bound to be cheaper.

Still only 2GB of VRAM per GPU? dang it, when I set BF3 to max it uses well over 2GB of Vram.....

BF3 makes use of what you have and will optimize itself, there is one guy on the Aria forums that has one 680 and runs BF3 on three screens at 5760x1080 and he only uses 1.5gb of RAM. There is another guy with 2x 480s and he can max BF3 on ultra with 60fps minimum and the 480s only have 1.5gb of RAM.
