Not sure on what to upgrade to

I currently have an old 7970 and now looking to replace it. I was looking to get the EVGA 780 6GB but now the 980 is released I am tempted to get that but it only has 4GB memory. I need lots of VRAM for Xplane. Will there be 980s with more VRAM?

You would be fine with the 980, on their site they only mention an ease of use to 1.5Gb of Vram, you still still have over 2x the ram they say.
So save some pennies
